Regarding IshgardFollow

I was discussing with a friend what we read about on the official forums about Ishgard being released after the battle changes are implemented. We came to the conclusion that Ishgard may be the place where you sign up for the 4 and 8 man dungeons/raids. Something that works similar to assault or campaign ops (possibly Einherjar) where upon completion of the mission objectives you would earn currency that could be used to purchase unique items. In addition there would be gear drops obtainable through chests that drop upon completing the zone. (This could also be part of the Grand Companies as well)

Much of that is mere speculation, we also considered that similar to Jeuno, the ability to use airships and chocobos could be tied to quests/objectives in Ishgard and the delay of it's release has bottlenecked the content that ties in with the city.

Companies however appear to focus on the 3 main city states so I imagine there release will be relatively unhindered but also intrinsically weaved into the upcoming battles changes as SE believes them pertinent to enjoying the upcoming content as quite a large percentage of the current and absent player base is generally unhappy with the current system.

I'm curious as to everyone else's thoughts on this matter. Thank you for your timeSmiley: smile

Can this currency be sold at a price? SHOULD it be sold at a price?

Uhhh I'm thinking it's possible it could be sold, it's up to the devs. I never did end game in XI, but I think when you did things like Dynamis runs, I think certian currency that was used for certian weaponry things (Someone correct me if I am wrong), and it would be sold. Why do you ask?

clearly its going to be the hub for the next level of endgame, but as to what that may entail is anyone's guess. I see where you're going and it would be a good way to implement a ton of new features "organically" (rather than have 20 new buildings/quest hubs just appear on the maps), but I personally wouldn't care either way.

I have a feeling that if an Auction House is to be implemented into the game that it will appear in Ishgard exclusively (to begin with at least.) If you played FFXI ove the years you know as well as I that the Jeuno AH killed almost all AH transactions in the 3 starting nations, by having a Market Ward system instead in the 3 starting nations, it actually makes more sense, so now when Ishgard opens up if there is an AH then it will be a stand alone system, while the Market Wards will remain as a possible way of selling items that some people camping in the starting nations still need. As far as chocobos and airships are concerned I agree that they will probably not be released until Ishgard is opened. They seem to be sticking with a basic framework of FFXI while still making the game different enough where it counts. This actually makes the basic developement and release of content predictable as far as modes of transportation and prediciting population migration, but still keeping the storyline and endgame content a mystery. Fun fun.

If an ah system is introduced into Ishgard, what is keeping everyone from flocking their to use what many think is a better system and just leaving their retainers alone to rot? Unless they only make some items usable on the AH system?

Well it is the same concept as in FFXI. THe 3 starting nations held the guilds. Jeuno didn't host any guilds nor offer any synthesis support, so crafters still camped in the starting nations at thier guilds. As such basic materials commonly used for grinding, crystals, low-level gear for new players/low-level jobs were still sold in the nation-exclusive AHs. In FFXIV however, instead of having such a complex AH system in each nation that is seperate from one another, they have the Market Wards, which provide a way to sell goods with out creating a single spot in each nation where everyone will sit directly in front of and craft while buying/selling goods from a single location. (this alleviates crowding). As the game progresses and people move away fro mthe starting nations (except crafters) this wont matter as much, and so having a full-scale AH will be pointless at that time. This leads me to believe that implementing such a system into the game as it is now would be a complete waste of space/time/resources. They most likely already have the AH system made and working, but are just waiting for the Ishgard content patch to add it in.
