New player, looking for server recommendationsFollow

My new PC is arriving tomorrow, and I just picked up a copy of the game. I'm wondering if there are any servers that still have somewhat healthy populations. Maybe "not as low pop" is a better way to put it? Searched the forums and the only other thread I found about this was a couple months old. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Lindblum is a pretty good server I would tell you to come join my LS but I am probly taking a few weeks off from the game to play and get tired of the new Mortal kombat.

If you decide Karnak, our linkshell Aeons, would be happy to invite you. If not I wish you happy adventures and memories in Eorzea. ^^

From what I've seen from forums, Wutai, Rabanastre & Fabul seem to still have a somewhat active player base.
Besaid I hear has been dubbed the unofficial RP server if you like role playing.
And I believe Selbina & Mysidia have pretty high JP play pops if you like playing with them.

Besaid is a good server. It is the unnofficial RP server but there are only a handful of linkshells (guilds) that seem to actually be specifically geared towards RP alone. Otherwise it is a fairly active server at both NA and JP times. :)

Wutai is where's it's at. Pretty decent player base (those that are still around), and actually we have players that are coming back from some time off, and I keep seeing new players (like under physical level 30) running around trying to figure stuff out.

If you don't speak Japanese on Selbina or Mysidia, I wouldn't expect to be leveling too fast.

But, as it stands now, Selbina and Mysidia are by far highest population.

This is quite true for Mysidia. There are active english players, but Japanese are much higher in population. I used to hear that Figaro was the official Japanese server though; when did Selbina and Mysidia become the two highest servers?

I was on Selbina and switched to Besaid because I couldn't find any English speaking players to really party with.

Besaid is a really good server. There are alot of active English speaking players. The RP'ers are really nice and friendly also. You should give it a try.

Thanks for everyone's input! I think I will try out Besaid. Egwene, love the WoT theme! Maybe I can get a pearl when I get up and running?

Wutai is a fair about of players on it. That's the server I'm on. I probably could get you into my LS if you wanted to join one right away. Everyone is at all different ranks that would likely take you on leves, etc and there are plenty of crafters that would make gear for you also. Linkshell name is Red Devil. Just go/start in Ul'dah and shout or /tell pyriel godhand

If you don't mind the occasion dab of japanese conversations , feel free to pop your heads over to Gysahls ^^
it's relatively quiet ~ in a good way. The variety of wares/trade from traders all over capital city is seemingly great too

Mysidia is nice. It does have a very high Japanese population (works for me, since I'm a Japanese major anyway), but you won't have to turn over couch cushions trying to scrounge for NA players either. For whatever reason I think the Japanese Mysidians just tend to be more vocal about finding parties/groups from the general population and NA players tend to stick with their linkshells more. Regardless, it's a fairly lively server. :)

I agree with the Mysidia statements. The Japanese playerbase seems more vocal and/or comfortable conversing in public with other players they may or may not know. However I just came back for the first *real* time since christmas, shouted for a linkshell and was able to get an invite. It's not hard to find english players but its true I see more japanese shouts and /say chats than I do english. Even during NA primetime you'll see a healthy balance between JP and EN chat. =o
