I had been reroll alot of time while play FFXIV, the reason is I do not know how to play the game system as it is. First I choise a job to play as DoH, with the "flexible" system, if I want more support to my crafter I need to lvl other craft to get their passive skill and no matter what I try to do, as focus in 1 craft or try to take the most need usually is weaver and LW, I always stuble into the problem : what is my main job in the end ? Am i just a clone of other char I see around ?

If any had meet this problem please tell me what should I do to adapt and understand this system. I dont think I understand it at all

I had play since the "fail" live of the game until now and I have never pass rank 20 due to the problem

What is you native language? This might be easier if someone can answer you as you English is shaky.

I'd try to respond, but the answer to "how do I play this game" is a broad one.

your forgetting one key thing though. you don't play XIV, XIV plays you.

It's easy to get most jobs up to rank 20 or so due to the decreased xp requirement in that level range. However why did you reroll? You can change jobs and even your base stats at any time. If you are interested in crafting however it would be helpful to rank up Alchemist and Carpenter to 10, to obtain Preserve and Tender Touch. These are abilities you can set that can help you maintain synthesis stability (Preserve) or lower durability loss (Tender Touch).

As you rank up the xp requirements will steepen and you'll need to specialize in one or two classes to get them to max rank in a decent amount of time. They also plan on retooling some of the recipes as to not require so many items, many of which pull from mulitple crafts you may not have leveled. With the current setup however, say you want to be a weaver it's a good idea to rank up leathercraft as well ad you'll need items from both professions to effectively make gear.

As for gathering classes if they interest you these classes will help you obtain raw items to support these crafting classes as follows:

Fishing: Alchemy and Culinarian
Botany: Carpentry, Alchemy, Culinarian and Weaver
Mining: Armorsmith, Blacksmith, Goldsmith (and a few Alchemy items)

Leatherworking primarily relies on drops from mobs throughout the game.

Classes are meant to work together but as you rank you'll need to narrow down a specialty unless you have nothing but time.

As for battle classes, pretty straightforward, kill things and rank up. Rank Pug to 6 for Second Wind and get a few levels in THM/CON for Sacrifice or Cure and you'll increase your survivability greatly. Hope that answered some of your questions Smiley: smile

You have the ability to get multiple jobs to 50. I don't understand what you mean when you ask what your main job is though. Its up to you to define what you are in XIV. XIV is made that you have the option to choose; while it is more difficult in crafting classes to only have one R50, it is still possible.

I think what the poster is saying, and what much of the playerbase also feels, is that his character has no identity. There's no attachement. When a player logs into FF14, they don't feel like they are playing their own unique being, they feel like they're playing/doing the same thing in each class, and like everyone else... and unfortunately, this will remain true until Battle/Class overhauls.

You're forgeting two keys... ' and e

(sorry I'm not a grammar ****, I just had to take advantage of the situation with Seph missing an R and you with the ' and e...)

As to the OP, you're whatever you want to be. If you only want a certain craft to 50 so be it. You can even avoid a lot of the recipies that require another class if you plan smart (though not on certain Leves unfortunately). Ideally some day we'll all have 50 everything, and then they will release new stuff and we'll cap that etc...

Ah, I think I get it now. I don't have much experience in MMO's, and I guess that is why I see things differently. I think I can understand why most classes seem to have no uniqueness, but I see some differences in all classes. I use Glad to tank, MRD to DD, Arch to farm items... but the classes having abilities that all can use can make it seem like its the same class, with different ranks. I like the intention of having jobs doing this, because it allows for free play, and you define how you want to be, and not what the rest of the community defines as the best class/skills for the outcome.
I'm looking forward to the overhauls, but I still hope it will allow a little of free style that it has now.
