joke? ; ; cuz we know it won't ; ;

This is the 30% segment iirc, and since the first patch didn't give us much besides some small NMs and an egg hunt, I don't see how this could be adding nearly anything at all. That is, unless this is the 70% segment.

This will mainly just be the full event quest line implemented along with any tweaks they found the time to resolve from previous patch(s).

Yeah. Since there has been no patch news yet, that alone should give you an idea of how small this patch will be.

I was under the impression this is the bulk of the Company content?

And of course they are going to fix targeting so we can target both the enemies and players we want with ease, as well as implementing the /assist command. They wouldn't work on content before targeting because SE is a competent company that understands what the players' gaming priorities are.

How much you wanna bet there are a lot more people that give priority to the inclusion of dungeons or companies to changing the target system, including myself?

I just don't assume I talk for the mojority of people!!!

I will be happy to rate you up for pointing this out. It's true. For those that have already given up on having a real targeting system and are willing to just play a sub-par game anyway, I'm sure that content is more important. (BTW Hugus, do you use a controller to play FFXIV?)

I find that I am not willing to struggle to play a game.

None of my party members are going to die because I can't target them fast enough. I will never aggro a monster that I did not intend to (or stand there motionless toggling through mobs during battle) because of a sub-par targeting system.

/target npc should target the nearest mob, not the mob nearest to the center of your screen.

I don't want to use macros to heal specific members. Macros are not reliable, perhaps because of server-side authentication. I want to cue my Cure spell then select them from the party list using UP/DOWN on the D-pad.

The squeekiest wheel gets the grease, right? So I can't just stop repeating myself.

The problem I see is that the players who won't play FFXIV because the targeting sucks have just moved on. They don't care if FFXIV lives or dies. The only players left playing are just determined to have fun playing FFXIV. They have accepted the crap targeting system long ago.

I clearly don't speak for the majority of players or there would be "targeting is crap" threads all time (Oh, wait). But I do speak for 100% of PS3 players who will be forced to use a controller.

EDIT: Also, we need a functional /assist command.

I honestly don't know of anyone who quit because of targeting besides you, apparently. I do, however, know a ton of people who quit because there was and is nothing to do. So yeah, IMO content is wayyyy more important right now.

It's easy to make one person represent the whole company, but Wada's incompetence has no part in what the dev team is doing.

I imagine the people who were turned off by the clumsy interface didn't play long enough to discover that there's no content. It's hard to impress new players when your game handles basic tasks worse than MMOs from eight years ago.

Think about how many players abandoned this game in the first few weeks. They didn't have time to run out of content.

I think you aren't realizing that the targeting shortcoming affect casters much moreso than any other class. Considering there are only two caster classes, it doesn't surprise me that targeting is not perceived as a bigger issue than it is.

I can log on days in a row, hours at a time, and never come accross a targeting issue because I'm crafting, gathering, fishing, or grouping as an archer where I basically just F8 my target. Even if I am targetting inefficiently, it doens't affect things very much for my class.

It is SE's role filter the feedback. They shold realize how important targetting is and fix it. It should not matter than anyone not playing a caster job likely doesn't perceive the targeting issues to be significant.

I quit because of targeting. Well, more specifically, because of the control setup. If I could use the arrow keys and have the camera and targeting system like FFXI I'd probably still play. I would also be happy with Warcraft controls and use WASD and left mouse for camera movement and right mouse for character turning. As it is now I couldn't play this game for more than 30 min without logging out in frustration, just because I couldn't comfortably control my character.

What's really irritating is a while back they said they were going to enable the arrow keys for camera control and it's never happened. And with their recent updates it looks like it never will happen. I keep the game installed and updated and read the forums in hopes that the game gets better, but I haven't actually played in months.

My guess is that it's because Yoshida is planning on making the game playable on keyboard+mouse or pad, and the keyboard-only controls are going to go.

One would assume they are adding Worms with this next patch. Besides content and targeting issues...Worms have got to be up at the top of their concerns.

I just won't play until then...I'm not kidding around.

This whole targeting issue: I don't see why it wouldn't be very easy to fix. It's a one person, one day (ok i'm going to be large: one week), job.

Have they put out some kind of patch schedule?

Rehauls come in two parts. First one during the Spring (May & 1.18, if there have been no significant delays). The next part few months later.

The dungeon content comes with the first rehaul.

Ishgard comes after the (battle) rehauls are done.

Well, considering how much the dev. team seems to get off on implementing slow, minuscule, half-broken fixes, I think I know what kind of enlargement the upcoming patch will provoke...

At this time, I still consider the only real content to be the main story quest line, and since it only takes a couple weeks to get to rank 46 and finish them all, I'd say you can run out of content in that time frame. To a lesser extent I suppose that class specific story lines are considered content, but they pretty much suck. The Goldsmithing story isn't half bad, and I suppose the Weaving storyline is pretty cool too, but they hit dead ends at the low rank of 36... so, yeah.

NMs are not, not, not content, so I'm not counting those for the 2 weeks mentioned.

Pssh, says somebody who only has ten rank 50s. Come back when you have at least twelve, otherwise I don't think you've really given the game a fair chance.

Odd that they didn't post patch notes along side it. Probably added in something they don't want us to speculate about and ruin, or just minor bug fixes and tweaks are the only thing in it.

The optimist in me says it's because there's a super special surprise in the patch that they'll announce Sunday as an Easter present.

The pessimist in me says it's because they're coming down to the wire and don't want to promise things they might have to cut last minute.

Or it's simply something not worth really teasing about.

I hope it'll be something nice as well, but I'm keeping in mind that they usually go with content patches (1.7) and follow up with system tweaks/minor changes for the .a version. This is the way it's been for a while and I don't see why 1.7a would be any different.

Osarion, I thought 1.17a was going to be different because Yoshi-P said that part of 1.17 was delayed due to the earthquakes/tsunamis/volcanoes/nuclear meltdown/all out havoc in Japan? So most of the content was included in 1.17, and part of it got delayed to 1.17a.

But I could be remembering wrong. And it's also possible that, as others have suggested, the additional content has been further delayed.

Regardless, I'm trying to keep my expectations low so I'll be pleasantly surprised. I was already pleasantly surprised by the addition of 20+ mid-level NMs. Anything else should be icing on a great patch cake.

You're right. Yoshida has said that it was split, 70% of content in 1.17 and the other 30% is in 1.17a.

Agreed. I lose interest quickly after rank 36 if I get that far with a class. There's the last few main story quests and special faction leves plus the NMs & that's about it. I have no drive to make the push from 36 to 50 for that.
