So right now I am currently downloading the patching using both the updater and utorrent. Both are downloading around 5kb/s, i know the updater is supposed to be really slow but why utorrent? any1 else experiencing similar issues?

I was about to post my woes as well, but my DL via a third party torrent tool just shot up to over 200kB/s. Just need to be a bit patient I guess.

I think torrents are blocked at my school because its not working for me :(
The patcher is slow too :(

I'm hoping the DD gets uploaded soon.

EDIT: Fairith has started uploading pieces of it to megaupload. Part 4 is already up.

Just watched an entire episode of ST: VOyager while the normal updater got up to 13%. Fired it up on utorrent and it just finished in 5 mins. Seeding @180kB/s =D

Interesting, seems that I'm 'that guy' posting about something that seems to be so easy.

Started the sluggish downloader, loaded the torret in bittorrent, closed the SE downloader. Came back in 10 minutes to have the download completed, made sure that downloaded patch (335,527kb) was in the My Games\Final Fantasy XIV\downloads\ffxiv\48eca647\patch folder, fired the application up again, and it just went up to where it was prior to shutting it down, and it's currently at 6.9% and downloading a 0.0 - 16.4kb/s. Am I blind and missing something?

Did you replace the patch that was already in the folder? Or is there .patch(1)?

Correct, it was a copy/replace.

Well to see what'd happen, I deleted the patch file, version info & torrent. Repeat and success. Odd.

Considering they have been giving us a couple of patches a month, and plan to continue doing so, it would be really nice if they got this process hammered out. I have played since launch and have had an issue downloading the patch almost EVERY SINGLE TIME a new one is released. Why do they have to make it so hard to stay positive about this game? Sometimes it feels like they're daring us to keep playing.

Mine is finally down to 6 minutes left. Sad thing is I started it 7 hours ago. really? why is it so slow? Is the problem on SEs side? i don't remember problems like this in XI. It shouldn't take this long when they didn't even add very much.

It probably has something to do with a forced ratio or something. on utorrent when I started this evening there were 200 seeds and 3300 peers. 15 total available copies. So it seems like the seeds are used as superseeds and then the peers all d/l as slow as the slowest person can upload, since they gotta wait for that person's ratio to be good...or...something...idk it's just stupid theory.

All I know is uncontrolled my upload shoots up to 250kB/s which is good since it's suppose to be rated at 3mb up. pretty close at least. I'm typically connected to about 20-30 peeps with that speed though so it's definitely not a speedy download but I bet it's efficient in distributing all the data to be redundant so as people finish and close the client, other connections are still available to ensure the downloads get completed.

The game's updater has always worked fine for me even back around release when it was worse for most people. Not sure why though.

An LS friend & I were talking about that kinda thing earlier tonight. The endless list of things that leave us spending more time frustrated than enjoying the game. Both in-game and the installation/updating/registration process. Like the whole thing's a big "***** you" to former XI players. "Yeah, let's see how they like this! Bet ya miss XI now don't ya??" = D

I know this is probably something not to put here. But I followed how others Torrent their patches. 1.17a is the first one that's given me trouble. but for some reason it refuses to start uploading the .torrent file. It's irritating since I've been trying different ways for the past day and gotten no results.

I see all these people who use uTorrent and the like to get their patches done, but i can't seem to get it to work when I'm going exactly how others seem to be going. Is there Anything I'm missing?
