New City: Thavnair?Follow

#1 Apr 25 2011 at 7:09 PM Rating: Excellent
While out hunting for new quests from this patch, I came across the NPC, Ahldskyf. He had a quest bubble over his head so I started to read his text and he mentioned that "We're in the process of resupplying for the long journey east across the Sea of Jade to the small island nation of Thavnair, and it's capital city Radz-at-Han.

Could this be a hint for new areas to come?

Yeahh :D

There are Islands North of LL that the current Admiral apparently destroyed during her pirate days.

And Support NPC at Brittlebark talks about another city that fell to the Garleans.

Perhaps that city to the east is the chain of islands off the main continent? Either that or they're referencing a different continent altogether.

I wonder if you can walk to Sharlayan from Coerthas...

Also, there's a mofuggin dragon's nest under Coerthas.
An NPC tells you she's scouting near The Lance, in a cave guarded by R70 something Bombs called Pourobouros.

They have also already named the southern continent using the new NM items too. Unlikes FFXI where it took them years to come out with something other then the stereotypical "Near/Far Direction" they already gave places names. Certainly a nice tease, but I wouldn't expect anything to come of those areas till they actually fill out the remaining regions of Eorzea. I don't expect a continent hopping expansion till after the first one which will likely open up Eorzeas remaining regions. We still got That region to the north of Las Noscea, the three other northern regions and 'maybe' the Padilith or whatever its called region to the southeast.

In the new lore bits added on the Grand Companies site, there's a little blurb about a new continent discovered by Chief Admiral Merlwyb.

Quote:
Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn is the latest to take the city-state's helm, and she brings with her an impressive list of laurels, such as the discovery of a safe route across the Indigo Deep to the recently discovered Western continent, and the unprecedented sinking of an "invincible" fleet dispatched by the Northern nations beyond the Bloodbrine Sea.

Not only is this little blurb mentioning a new Western continent, but it is also talking about more nations further north than the continent of Eorzea, since the Bloodbrine is at the furthest North of the map we currently have. There's a lot of interesting content bits in this new update.

Another example is that the leaders of all three city-states are female, which I find interesting and did not know before today. Merlwyb is the Chief Admiral, Kan-E-Senna is the Elder Seedseer, and then we have the unnamed Sultana of Ul'dah.

Lots of little lore bits to find!

That is a very interesting find. I just hope they actually develop those areas. One of my disappointments with XI was that there is extensive lore dealing with other regions, yet there was no opportunity to explore them.

Anyone knows the 4th nation/capital city? Since if you look towards the continent map/world map
To the north, seems secluded... no form of entrance are to be found?.. (new to ffxiv here)

The new realm is called "Thavnaizia". And is the long-lost direct land bridge to Vana'diel.

Hopefully soon, but when it goes live, you'll only be able to look at the new area from a cliff nearby.

you can see bastok from that cliff, except when trying to push forward a message appears "You Shall Not PASS!!!" and you are transported to a plain with Short Hairy footed people.

That might be THE biggest trolling/epic awesome thing they could ever announce. I would be sooo ******* yet pleasently in awe at the same time.
