Quote:
High above the Twelveswood, the Raven circles, evermore seeking out truth hidden amongst the shadows of the trees.

In this edition, field correspondent Oliver Goodfellow revisits Jihli Aliapoh, also known as the Dreamer, and her faithful followers to investigate what is unfolding into one of the most peculiar events in recent memory.

● Eggs in One Basket

Whether you are follower of the Dreamer's gospel, or simply someone caught up in the season's festive mood, there is no denying that with each passing day, anticipation for the Hatching Hour—the ceremony in which the eggs are used by the Dreamer to summon forth the fabled Twelve Archons—continues to grow. Which is why the heinous crime committed in Jihli's storage tent last night is that much more shocking.

Upon finishing the day's sermon, Jihli made her way to the double-walled tent in which she and her followers had been storing the eggs collected from the festival-goers. After seeing that the eggs collected that day were secure, she fastened the entrance with a sturdy lock and returned to her nearby chambers, where she meditated until the sands of slumber granted her blissful respite. What awaited her the next morning, however, was a harsh reality—not only was the storage tent lock broken, but the eggs within gone...

And to add to the mystery, it was soon found that something else had gone missing as well—one of Jihli's spriggan famuli, Twiggy, was nowhere to be seen.
● Robbery or Ruse?

Spriggans are feared across the realm as furacious furballs prone to pilfering any piece of property they can carry, and so in light of this new evidence pointing to the involvement of a spriggan in the theft of thousands of eggs, the whole affair raises the question, why were the creatures allowed a place beside Jihli in the first place? Last week I reported that Jihli enlisted the spirggans to help collect eggs, utilizing to her advantage the creatures' natural instinct to hoard small objects, but what exactly was it that prompted her to do so?

After speaking once again with Jihli's assistant, Bricot, the answer becomes clear. It appears that three days before the commencement of Hatching-tide, two spriggans appeared on the doorstep of the Dreamer's home, both carrying eggs. Whereas most of us would view wild beasts loitering about our homes as a nuisance and place an immediate call to the Wood Wailers to have them removed, Jihli took the whole scene as a sign from the Archons—the two spriggans obviously sent to assist her in preparing for Hatching-tide. And with that, she enlisted their services, not once stopping to think that the appearance may simply have been coincidence.

The bite marks on the broken lock, the tiny footprints leading to and from the tent, the clumps of dark fur in and about the empty egg boxes, and Twiggy's apparent absence from the festivities this morning all point to the spriggan's involvement in the tragic disappearance. Yet the case may not be as cut and dry as it seems. Another of the Dreamer's spriggan servants—a veritable dust bunny answering to the name of Diggy—is still working alongside Jihli this morning, sweeping up eggshells and fetching egg caps as if nothing transpired the night before. Considering the gregarious nature of spriggans, combined with the sheer number of eggs that were stolen, it seems unlikely that Twiggy could or would have have worked on his own, leading one to believe that there may be more to this story than is apparent.

Are we to believe Jihli and her tale of betrayal? Could it be that a rogue spriggan is working on his own to foil what could be the most important moment in Eorzean history? Or could it be that Hatching-tide is naught more than a grand performance, and to prevent the hoax from being exposed, festival ringmaster Jihli Aliapoh engineered the theft herself?

Whatever the answer, you can rest assured the Raven will find it.

Oliver Goodfellow

Duration
Thursday, April 15 (1:00 a.m.) to Monday, May 9 (7:00 a.m.)
The Dreamers

It appears that Jihli wasn't the only Dreamer to be duped. Reports from around Eorzea claim both Motte from Limsa Lominsa and Kikina from Ul'dah were betrayed in a similar manner.

Part II of the quests are available.

We don't appear to be given the eggs this time. It looks like we have to go out to find it. See below posts for more

Here is a summary of the combination to get the eggs

i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd2/Magnesium02/FFXIV/EggCaps-1.png

For Uldah:

You can talk to Kikina, then talk to Wadard. He will say that they have been betrayed and one of the spriggans has run away with the eggs and you can accept the quest.

Wadard: You've spoken with the Dreamer? Then you know that we have been betrayed.
Wadard: One of the spriggans we enlisted to assist in the spreading of the gospel─Ziggy─has stolen our cache of Archon eggs.
Wadard: The Dreamer foretold this misfortune in her gospel, and remains steadfast in her belief that the heroes who helped us once before will help us once again. She has even asked me to reward those who come to our aid with specially crafted egg caps.
Wadard: Locate and retrieve one Archon egg and one lightning, earth, and water Archon egg, and I shall give you a pristine egg cap similar to the one the Dreamer wears herself.
Wadard: Bring back one colored Archon egg and one fire, wind, and ice Archon egg, and I shall give you a vibrant egg cap.
Wadard: Bring one painted Archon egg, one astral Archon egg, and one fire, wind, and lightning Archon egg, and I shall give you a brilliant egg cap.
Wadard: Finally, locate one darkened Archon egg, one umbral Archon egg, and one earth, water, and ice Archon egg, and I shall give you a midnight egg cap.

Like before there is one quest in each town that is the same. Once you get the quest you talk to the remaining spriggan next to the NPCs. It will spout some nonsense about caves.

So in each of the areas of Drybone, Horizon, Nophica's Wells & Naniwa you can head into cave in which spriggans will spawn. They each hold a certain egg; Archon in Drybone, Coloured in Horizon, Painted in Nophica & Darkened in Copperbell Mines. When you kill the spriggans they will drop the egg they 'carry' as well as a number of other eggs of the elemental/umbral/astral kind. Remember that the special eggs are Unique, so you can only carry 2, one in Inv, one on bazzar.

Upon returning talk to Wadard and you get the option to exchange all 4 caps, Pristine, Vibrant, Brilliant & Midnight.

-----

Edit: As mentioned below, to get the Chocobo Hat, you need to take each of the elemental eggs + astral + umbral (8 in total) to Ziggy, the Spriggan Thief to get the last cap.

Edit2: I wonder if our backgrounds will change ...

ok so:
Locations:
Cave near rank 10 leve (ex. emerald moss)
Cave near rank 20 leve (ex. tranquil)
Cave near rank 30 leve (ex. humblehearth)
Room in highest level dungeon (ex. tam tara deepcroft)

Each location has sprinting spriggans (or scrambling spriggans or possibly other names) that randomly spawn in a group of from what i have seen 5-7 in a cave or room.
When you clear out a room or cave they seem to spawn in a completely different one. And all in one group.
They will run away a bit, heal, run back, over and over again. So save up TP and WS to death.

Each drop 1 unique egg for the helm of the corresponding level and 3-6 random other eggs (usually 3. i got 6 a few times but it may have been a glitch)

The ones in the highest level dungeon are usually in rooms with TONS of rank 40-50 mobs. You will either need to pull them and kill them 1 by 1 or bring a party to even get to them.

Edit:
You get the chocobo egg cap from the NPC "Twiggy" in the highest leveled part of the low level dungeons (ex. mun tuy cellars bottom right corner of 5x-4y)

What's this? A quest that changes with time and is actually surprising? On the right track, SE! :D

Are the caves all the same regardless of where you started the quest? I started in Gridania.

Here is a map to the caves in Copperbell Mines. Be warned there is a bit of aggro, and it may be difficult for you toget down there alone if you are not high rank.

Screenshot

The green star to the south has a lot of antlings in between it and the two to the north. It may be easier for you to stick to camping the two north caves.

I guess I should also mention that here are chigoes, bomb, elementals, etc in the same rooms as the spriggans that will probably aggro you. So be safe. :D

Not sure on that 1. I briefly checked some areas in LL that were listed on YG and didn't find any spriggans though. Didn't investigate thoroughly, but went back to Thanalan and continued the search there just in case. Might be you have to search in the area you grabbed the quest in since those spriggan NPC names are slightly different for the chocobo cap?

Could always abandon one and start another too if that's the case...

Here is a map of Nanawa showing the location of the Spriggan NPC that will give you a Chocobo Egg Cap in exchange for one of each of the following: Earth/Fire/Ice/Lightning/Water/Wind/Astral/Umbral Archon Egg.

Screenshot

You may be able to take the yellow path I marked instead of the long way around, but I don't remember if the passages are blocked, and so I didn't try since I knew I could get there following the red line the whole way.

There are 3 skeletons in the same room as the NPC so if you aggro them you will have to clear them out before being able to talk to NPC.

Very helpful info here, thanks! :)

I just got Darkened Eggs from the Spriggans in Tam-Tara Deepcroft, and would suggest that you look elsewhere if the first ones you find are in an area with too much aggro for you to handle. I found them in different spots (2 upper level and one lower, could be more though), some in a room of Rotting Corpses but others in a room of Lemurs.

There's quite a few r30+ aggro mobs along the way and some r30ish skeletons in the room the NPC is in. Might wanna bring some extra muscle for that trip...

There's spriggans to the south in the western part of the Formicary, entrance just opposite the aetheryte. If your rank is high enough the antlings will ignore you and you can farm spriggans without getting ants in your pants, whereas aggro on the upper level will still aggro.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/8581-List-of-The-Dreamer-s-Dilemma-Spriggans-(updated-constantly)

Guide I used, only place that was heavily camped was the one by Humblehearth or whatever because the mobs from one of the levequests pop in there.

*EDIT* All the ones on this list are in caves, so look at the map before you try to run to the spot or thanks to Grids layout you could be running the wrong way. Also there are places where 1 or 2 pop outside of caves, but this guide will get you everything in quantity.

Depends on your rank, for me there was one set of eggs that was a bit risky solo for Gridania, I think in the Deepcroft. Turning in for the choco hat was cake.
