There's so much crap floating around out there right now and a few sites are being very shady with their headlines or wording, I think it's an easy mistake to make.

For what it's worth I don't care all that much about the Wii 2, I really only skimmed that article over as I was reading through the rest of the news on Ars. I'd bet money that the online system is going to continue to be the worst of the 3 consoles.

All signs seem to point to "Wii 2" (or whatever it will be called) being playable at this years E3 show. That's June 7th. A little bit more than a month away. Guess we should have most of our questions answered there/then.

"Continue to be the worst of the 3 consoles?" You need to follow the news on Ars a little closer.

Trust me, I know all about the problems Sony is having with the PSN.

I would hope that has nothing to do with it, but we'll see. I'm in the same boat as far as online expectations. However, online for the console doesn't need to have anything to do with capability for an MMO. **** the Wii could produce a good online MMO experience, and we all know the Wii's online function sucks **********

Ultimately we need to get to the stage where things aren't rumours. Assuming it's as powerful as, if not more, than current gen. AND it's easily ported to by at least the 360'ws library, then it's almost guaranteed to be on the system. As I said before, if they had it ready for 360 then they are only a few steps away from making it Wii2(whatever) ready. AND (and) if the PS3 and Wii(2whatever) have the same MMO then maybe M$ will cave and change their policy and then EVERYONE will have the chance to experience XIV for better or worse it will expose the game to more subs and more peeps in the world to keep us occupied.

What pops into my mind when thinking about a Wii2 port of FFXIV was the problems FFXI had due to being coded for the PS2. I don't know how many times we were told "It can't be done due to having to 'code down' to the PS2 limitations". If that could even be a possible problem I say don't do it.

That's a possible problem no matter which console it would come out on. You can always upgrade a PC, the same does not hold true for consoles. Except in rare cases (like the "expantion chip" for the N64 or the Sega CD.) or bordering on the not so legal side. In the 2nd case, once you "mod" your console you run the risk of it being "seen" anytime there is a system update done.
