I was behesting at Nanawa last night, and some Japanese player kept telling me to use Stygian Spikes instead of Shock Spikes because "[Experience Points] so DOWN". And he was wearing a bunch of l33t gear so i guess he knows what he's talking about. Can anyone confirm?

Only thing i can think of is that u get less xp from mobs that die from enfeebling? :3

If you're fighting groups of mobs that aggro... and you deal damage to them when they are yellow (unclaimed) by the time you claim them, you'll receive less SP than if they were at full health.

Make sense?

heres an example anyways:

If a mob at 100% hp gives you 100SP... but he aggros you and hits your group WHILE another mob is claimed, and you get the aggroed monster's HP down to 90%, due to spike damage, then he may only give you like 80SP or something....

Just to add to this, it's best to avoid Shock Spikes on leves where the mobs are spawned by examining light shafts/nodes like Dunesfolk for Dinner or Great Hoary Toads.

Most of the time they will hit you and take damage from Shock Spikes before you have a chance to claim them, which as others have pointed out, reduces SP.

Ah, I remember the good ol days when lag was so bad that an archer would be able to kill Dunesfolk bomb in a single multishot BEFORE they were claimed, you had to wait around 10+ seconds after provoking for the mob's name to turn red. Those were the days...
