They can't ALL be crappy can they? Been a while since quest update. Does anyone know if there are quest strings? (besides main story and guild) Is there a fame system or anything to reward you for questing besides 10k or mediocre things i can buy for cheap in the wards anyways.

If there isn't there should be, then something might actually get valuable in this game besides extremely high quality +??? equipment.

If what you are looking for is a quest that rewards something valuable the answer is no.

Yeah, there really aren't any awesome quest rewards. Hopefully they continue to add quests and maybe add some cool U/U quest items.

they are all boring too.

only decent one story-wise is the goblin one in limsa (hes hiding under a ledge thing outside of the guildleve counter area kinda between the top lvl and bottom i think. Its a pretty funny quest, but like really simple and fast.

"A forbidden Love" given to you by Ethelinda outside quarry mill is also pretty cute and funny story wise. The poem made me lol hardcore. you need R30 for it.

I like the ones that mention trouble to come. Winds of change in Limsa. I did the one in Uldah but cant remember the name. Sure some are crappy but its something else to do. Don't be fooled every quest in ffxi wasnt awesome either. I liked some that gave gear for my lower classes. Some give 2k-7.5k gil so not too bad. I just like doing something different.

Yes the value in quests lately has been that some of them seem to be starting to provide actual story around coming events, be they companies, or other unkwnon war/strife. Also, since you need to do the early quests to unlock secondary quests from the same characters I've been trying to keep up with them.

Quests:

thought-provoking/interesting/creative > more gear upgrades

~~~~~~~~~
The best games do either both sides or favour the left; generic games do the right; FFXIV opts to ignore both.
I just started this quest and the guy from Grid(writer of the poem) was the starting NPC for another side quest I had already done which made this a bit funnier...
In the other quest he gives you're sent to gather the missing excerpts from his journal off monkeys in Mun-Tuy. Apparently not all of 'em = D
I like the new sidequests that fortell of an unknown event and all, but those will never be as interesting as quests where something actually happens. That's the problem with these sidequests, nothing actually happens in them. Sure you kill a couple dodos and turn in some items but you never see the result, you just get told something happens, get a pat on the back, and are sent on your way. To me, this is why the cutscenes in FFXI's quests were important.. though not all of them had one.
I guess we'll have to wait and see with the June update to see if any new quests are added that actually have something happening in them. Until then, it'll be a pretty dry and boring story.
