My Bush looks weird.Follow

That is to say, every bush and tree in Thanalan takes on this wierd shimmering effect whenever I, or the camera is in motion. Anyone know what setting affects this? Been ******** around for awhile now.

Something with the way trees are programmed causes light issues when they sway.

Plants are an odd 2D texture when zoomed in, but do look good from a zoomed out view.

Just the way the game is programed.

I'm encountering just the opposite, in fact. From far away they look terrible, they flicker and shimmer, it's very jarring to the eye and immersion.

If I zoom in on them, they are indeed 2D, but they stop flickering, and look pretty good. Up close they have colour, far away they look like TV static/snow.

Most everyone has the same problem with the foliage in the game >< the branches go from an odd fuzzy kind of bushy to a wiry kind of bushy. It doesn't look natural in the least.

Exactly, maybe I didn't describe it correctly. It all usually looks great in still pics, if it doesn't look good in a still pic then you have an issue OP. I'm assuming you have your settings all appropriate for your card and resolution?

There is absolutely no way to read the thread title and keep one's mind out of the gutter.

So it's not just me then.

Yea, my settings are ok, I've been tweaking them all day to no avail. Looks like I will just resign myself to... Magic Bushes?

Magic bushes.

Do these bushes, by chance, continuously refer to you as Moses? I've been having the same problem IRL for a while now, and I keep telling them that it takes a massive amount of time to engrave instructions in solid stone, but they're surprisingly adamant about the issue... :\

What are your graphic settings? I don't experience this problem with everything on max + FoD (no AO), 1920x1200.

I'll have to check it out in game for myself. The only Bush I trust is my own.

You can go to your nvidia control panel and select "texture filtering - anisotropic sample optimization" and set it to off. This should take care of you shimmering problem.

Squeenix really needs to code this game better. :(

Higher resolution and more antialising(spelling?) helped with it a little but the flickering you are experiencing is a mixture of the alpha textures swapping and bad camera exposure programming.

I believe depth of field (field of depth?) eliminates this problem which is why I've never noticed it.

After some testing, I think the problem actually lies in a Screen size/res ratio effect.

In 1080p on a 46", the effect is quite noticable. However, at 1080p on a 23", the effect is hardly noticable. On a 19", it all but disappears.

Namely, the bigger your screen, the bigger the effect.

Well he capitalized the word "Bush" so I guess in some strange way you could infer the comment to refer to a person rather than a shrub or, erm, well, somethig else.

Did you try changing the "transparency antialiasing" setting to supersampling in the nvidia control panel? I found that it eliminates shimmering completely when combined with 4XFSAA. Unfortunatly, it has a crippling effect on framerate, with the game running at only 1/4 of the fps compared with no transparency antialiasing, at least on my low-end GTS250.

I found that the Depth of Field setting had no effect on the tree shimmering -- it was very dissapointing.
