Yoshi-P here First off, we know there was confusion concerning the worldwide release of FFXIV. Originally slated for a March 2011 release we have now finalized a release for the PS3 console. The relaunch of of FFXIV will coincide with the first expansion The Crystal War. This expansion will be the first major revision of FFXIV. Adventurers in Eorzea will no longer be left in a state of suspense as the invasion from the north begins. Many adventurers will pick up long forgotten arts of war and magic to combat this threat to their homes peace. Summoners will awaken slumbering Gods, Geomancers will harness the power of the earth,.. From the far east armorers have forged katanas and shurikens... and from the high seas a band of rogues with an eye for stealth and exploiting enemies physical weaknesses have set up camp in the Black Shroud. New city-states will be introduced, however the magic of the Aetheryte has not entered those countries. These citizens rely heavily on yellow beasts of burden, known as Chocobos to traverse the countryside.

The expansion will be included in the PS3 retail release and a free download for all PC Subscribers. Monthly subscriptions will start 30 days following release..... Oh, the date you ask?

When the PlayStation Network is up again.

Happy Friday!!

No mention of lasers and/or jetpacks... it can't be true.

I'm sorry, maybe there is something I don't understand, but WHAT about the day PlayStation Network come back up that mark this as an April Fool's-esque joke? I haven't been following PSN news, but I understand they're trying their best to bring it back up, and that it's just unlucky it's Sony, and not Microsoft or Nintendo. I hardly understand how it is "handicapped" for someone to think that services will return to normal when PSN is up and (relatively) secured, especially for an online game that has so much ties with an online network.

This is more of a ZAM thing, commonly done on the FFXI boards back in the day. Then again in AUS I imagine it isn't the same day so I could see where the joke would fail to amuse youSmiley: lol

THANK YOU for the explanation. Appreciate it. No, I wasn't here in the FFXI board, so to me it's just like a cruel joke, like "Hey the doctor said your grandma is gonna be alright, and she's gonna recover completely from her heart disease!..........j/k, j/k. Happy Friday!"

It's a really stupid Alla thing, "happy friday" = make stuff up, the more convincing the better. Basically if you see something really good/bad on here and it's friday it's probably made up.

I have to agree with this.

I actually got slapped out of bed in the morning because of this post, part of heated debate between my better half and me on whether or not FFXIV may die in the next year (I'm of the opinion that it won't see the light of 2013) either way she found the post in a JP blog of a person who didn't get the joke and was rambling cuz SE informed USA first.

Nothing like waking up by facial pain at the sound of "I told you! SE is even releasing a expansion soon!"

It really depends, there are more... portable devices for the Throne room, retina display anyone?

Still I think net access is a most when you are... uploading your crap to the public line.

Elation, instantly replaced with rage, giving way to hilarity. It's the perfect formula / blueprint for a "happy friday" thread on the ZAM boards; an emotional roller coaster with a happy ending (because it is in fact Friday).

You sir, are a DELIGHT!

And to people who are genuinely upset, you gotta lighten up a bit. Don't take anything in life too seriously, it's only a temporary condition.

Don't expect the PS3 release of FFXIV anytime soon. SE game release dates for 2011 and early 2012 have leaked.

That's very interesting if correct. I would have thought the PS3 release would have definitely been in this financial year, especially if the hypothesis that the game shall remain f2p until the PS3 release ......

I know you got a lot of rate downs for this, and I'm not a huge fan of this post BUT this is how you make a proper Happy Friday thread. A little effort. So rate up from me to counter some of those downs, but to be honest if this was at good or excellent I wouldn't have rated it at all.

I was starting to believe it until I read the word Summoner as a new expansion job, other than that was a good Happy Friday thread :)

Now that I've had sleep, I have to say, Good show OP. You really REALLY had me, but not just me, my boyfriend too. You had us on the edge of our seats with sheer excitement, then depressed all night, then laughing all morning. I saved my rate down for today, and I rated you up.

Best Happy Friday to have had me like that :)
