I formatted my computer and lost FFXIV, i am trying to reinstall it, i purchased the game originally and admittedly i did not take care of the installation disk. I am so used to being able to download the clients online but apparently i cant find it anywhere.

Can anyone tell me what i can doo to get the game client back?

Sadly the only option would be a torrent site, which I wouldn't recommend, as SE don't seem to like to offer client downloads.

I don't think it is available on Steam either.

As you legally purchased the game, there's nothing wrong with torrenting the install disk, which is your only choice here. SE has not put up any way of downloading the client.

Not strictly true, and torrenting runs two risks:

1) While as an original purchaser you are allowed by law to own a backup of any media you purchase, you cannot distribute it. If you get a torrent, the downloading of the disk is fine but the uploading (the whole point of torrenting) is illegal.

2) There is no control over the content of the torrent you are downloading. It might be that Mr NiceGuy has ripped his disk and made it available to people in your situation. It might be that Mr NastyMan has ripped his disks, then crammed as much dodgy software into it as he possibly can. You have no real guarantees which you will get.

While these are mild risks, they are risks none the less.

As long as you are able to check the files inside the torrent, you should be okay.

Personally, I actually purchased two copies of the game way back in September, and while waiting for them to arrive, launch day came, I downloaded and installed with a torrented ISO, activated my codes once I got them, and never actually touched the discs.

I've only ever used torrent installs and have never had an issue. Does the job perfectly, and I know that one in particular is clean.

It's not like you can do anything with a downloaded game client if you don't already have a legitimate registration code.

RE: Utilizing a torrent...

More importantly than the game disc, what you are purchasing is your "content ID". As long as you still have your ID number, you just need an install. I borrowed PC versions of FFXI discs from a friend, which was accessible with my PS2 content IDs. I can't see why FFXIV would be any different. SE is only interested in you paying for content IDs.
