Anime Central 2011 - Final Fantasy MMO Panel (5/21/11)Follow

Hello everyone! State Alchemist here bringing news from Anime Central 2011! I just got back home after being up for almost 48 hours (about 9 of those hours spent driving...@.@)...and I am happy to say I thought the Final Fantasy MMO panel went well! We had around 50 people turn up for the panel (kinda small numbers, but I think it was partially because our panels time got changed (to 7pm) and the program for the convention said the panel was at 6pm...) However, I was quite surprised that almost all of the FFXI players that showed up also play FFXIV, sometimes from how people in the forums post it seems a lot of people play one or the other...

A lot of topics were discussed including Abyssea, changes to Dynamis, the evolution of FFXIV since launch, and some of the things to come. A few people who had not played FFXIV since launch~ish timeframe were pleasantly surprised about the huge changes that have already happened to FFXIV to improve gameplay, and even more interest was shown when I mentioned the introduction of the Materia system (even with the small amount of information known).

It was a great 2 hours that went by way to fast, causing us to cut short a lil' prematurely (next time Catwho I will tell them to wait with the questions, Kupo!) but all-in-all I think we generated some new interest in FFXIV which was one of our goals. Oh, and we also had a few FFXI cosplayers... :D a WHM, a BLU, and another job...I can't remember which >.> the costumes looked great, sorry I didn't have a chance to take pictures, but maybe if Catwho sees this post she can post some pics if she has any.

If anyone else happened to be at Anime Central let us know and post some pics (or links for pics)!!!

Just want to thank Catwho and Taperkat for having me on the Panel and hope to be a part of it again next year (and next time I am sooooo cosplaying, but you'll have to wait and find out as who!!!)

P.S. Now that a lot of the business is out of the way feel free to hit me up on Palamecia Server, I have my own LS (social only for now) but I am looking for a good LS in which I might be able to get a static PT for my THM.

P.P.S. Admins I am posting this in both FFXI and FFXIV general discussion forums since it pertains to both games, and not everyone might be looking in just one or the other. Lemme know if that's a porblem... :x

Sounds like you all did a great job, hope you had fun. Wish I could've come, but as I live in Sweden mostly I don't get the chance heh.

Also, I actually read this in the XI section first, saw "materia" and as one of the people who hasn't even looked at XIV since I left in like early november I went.. "oooh reeeally". Just curious, but what is the talk about this, is it confirmed and if so what little info is there about it?

In short, the concept has been explained ad en enchantment system for crafters to add stats to equipment post production. Materia is a tentative title.

Hey there, I actually attended the panel. I was the only person from shiva and had an oshawott plushie >.>;; I have attended the last two by Catwho haha, She always makes them entertaining but I was sad for the no trivia this time! So thank you three for having this panel also.

You guys did a great job, XIV update talk took forever because of how much they've changed, so /shrug not much you could do there.

Thanks

Yeah, I wasn't happy about how long the FFXIV part took (shouldn't have answered so many questions as I went along... ><) but if I am a part of it next year I will probably shorten it further. Will keep the trivia in mind though. ^^

I can't fault your taste of starters, at least.
