Big Updates, Small Patch Notes = Future Content? No.Follow

#52Crevox, Posted: May 24 2011 at 3:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) In many cases, it is. Even if you don't know why, it's still YOUR hardware setup that's causing it. My point was that while it's a flaw in the patcher, it's not an issue entirely in the patcher (sometimes it's your hardware setup is conflicting with the patcher and causing it). My point is, it's not an issue that is happening to everyone, and people are so very quick to blame SE for their troubles, when it's not always SE's fault.

The patcher is not perfect, which why SE has stated they are working to improve the patcher on multiple occasions.

I'm just giving what I advice I have. That USUALLY fixes issues, but there are some things that are just... unknown or unfixable.
Quite the backpedal from this, way back when 75 minutes ago:

it's your own fault it's not working properly.

Thank you Bsphil couldnt have said it better myself. Crevox I'm really not trying to be an a$$ towards you or anyone else that says "OPEN YOUR PORTS" but i am just so disappointed in so many things SE has done with this game its unreal. And then you have people (although it SHOULD work) just saying to do this and if it doesnt work it is your own dumba** fault, just gets so old (as does posts about the crappy patcher by people).

Anyway, this game has so much potential (in my eyes) but can this magical Yoshi-P or whoever actually make it work? If not well i guess there is always GW2 and other such games to look forward too.

I am not trying to be mean, by any means, I just want to have people resolve their issue... and too many people are just going "it's SE's fault" when they should put a bit more effort into resolving the issue first. :|

How you can't see this being SE's fault is beyond me. Of all of the things you could have selected to take sides with SE on...

Anyhow, the best solution to the problem is to break the terms of service and use a 3rd party application to download the client. I don't normally suggest people break the ToS, but in this case it's clearly the best way to get your updates in a matter of minutes and not days.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

I'm not saying it's not SE's fault. None of these patching issues would exist if SE had a more compatible patcher, however...

Many people can't download simply because they do not forward ports. They see low kb/s, and instantly blame SE and their patcher. It's a peer-to-peer client, which most MMOs use nowadays... you're gonna have to forward the port. That's not SE's fault. It bothers me that people instantly blame SE and don't even bother trying to fix the problem.

Now, there are some people that are having issues patching even though they forwarded the proper ports. That is an issue that needs to be resolved... and upnp should be fixed so that people don't have to forward the ports.
