So, is it worth coming back yet, or is the game dead and the servers are empty?

Hrmmm well that depends, many bugs have been fixed, some side quests *which are very lack luster* have been added...however before the end of summer they are supposed to be fixing the battle system, dealing with job uniqueness *I think*, and some other things...check the lodestone for what they are supposed to be doing before the end of summer...there also should be a thread floating around here on the boards somewhere with the link.

Hm is the interface still laggy? Lol. I left back in October. Making a new i7 990x hexacore build, so might pop on just to test the new hardware.

The interface is not laggy anymore, but as someone stated, there is supposed to be a giant overhaul in a few weeks.

Since you left they replaced the majority of the development team in December and they're intent on fixing the game. I'd say give it a try after this next update and find out whether you may like it or not. It's still free.

Yeah I saw that they did that, looked at a few updates from time to time. Glad to hear they fixed the interface. When I get my parts ordered and put together I'll pop back on besaid :)

What's up with the class/job changes coming soon though? Anyone have a link to that? Hate to be lazy but annoying to find stuff like that while on motorola xoom.

The class system isn't going to be dumped. From what I understand (and this may or may not be true, nothing has been ultimately confirmed yet) is that classic-esque FF jobs will be introduced as specializations on current classes. Aka, a Conjurer can specialize into a Black Mage or White Mage.

I imagine the jobs are going to have advanced abilities specialized for party play while the classes will maintain the diversity for solo or small groups. Jobs will require a quest to unlock and a class rank requirement.

Spoke to the dev. team to try and wrangle some more details regarding the upcoming job system. The current thinking is to have one job for one class. So for example, if you are a gladiator, the job you could unlock would be paladin, etc. Right now, we can't give any further details about the possibility of having multiple jobs per class.

I realize I'm kind of nitpicking, but I just wanted to give the most accurate information possible. I apologize if this seems rude. ;_;

No worries. I didn't see this post. Now I am interested to see what Conjurer and Thaumaturge are going to evolve into.

I thought the expression was "Time = Money"? If time > money, everyone would just be content being poor... or building time machines.

IMO I would wait for the upcoming patch. I came back to check out the mini quests and they just didn't do it for me. I will try again after the battle update, but even then, it's going to take more than auto attack to get me back. I like where they are going with "class uniqueness" but I would like to see more than one advanced class per job, it kinda defeats the purpose with only one...

There is still an unacceptable amount of menu lag, sadly, unless it's due to my system specs. I can run the game fine on medium-high settings, around 7 or 8. It's not nearly as long as it was at release, but it's still there and should've been dealt with by now.

If you chew through content fast no point in coming back unless you just want several 50s.

omg srsly? I am also one of the ones watchign and waiting, if the implemtn specialized jobs anythign simuliar to what ff11 had then i will jump all over this, even more so if the job specific gear hits near the same time.

I know I ma in the minority but i have always been one of those that believes if a clasc can tank thats their job to tank. I mean rocket scientist dont normally also have a job on the side doing organ transplants. sooo ya SE for finally reaching back into that bag of tricks SS had and remebering where they came from.

IMHO it's still laggy as ****, although better than the ridiculously laggy beta. Going to vendors is painfully slow.

The interface needs a complete overhaul, and nothing less.

Vendors are still slow? Srsly? Do they at least acknowledge the problem? Lol

Thats a bit overdone if you ask me, a bit slow yes, painfully slow? no. Improvements can be made but interface has gone from being one of the top priorities for change to being one of the lowest because they have made significant improvements and other areas need seeing to.

Knowing SE, whatever content they add will require a hefty amount of grinding to get access to. Might as well grind while there's nothing else to do, is how I see it.

*standard... standard.. standard...*

Sigh...

They're better than alpha/beta, but they're still 5x as slow as they should be.

They're about the same speed as in FFXI, no? I think the inability to drag and drop stuff is what slows it down the most. At least in its current state.

FFXI was released in 2002. A game released in 2010 should not be the same or in worse shape than a game made eight years previous.
