Maybe this belongs in some sort of out-of-topic board, I'm uncertain, but I simply wished to share a small news story from E3.

There has been an influx of gloomy discussion on these boards - surely stemming from the writhing beast that is FFXIV and its currently tenuous state. I have read many posts lamenting the slow, encroaching death of the Final Fantasy franchise (time will tell whether SE rediscovers their proverbial roots), and I have participated in more arguments than my schedule should technically accommodate.

But I thought I'd share a bit of good news, good for all of us: SE announced today that the Final Fantasy franchise has officially shipped over 100,000,000 units. That's nice, I think; because, regardless of our opinions, most everyone on these boards would be happy to see FFXIV turn out well, and that cannot occur without the survival of SE.

If they're doing well, then they're more likely to try and repair this ambling beast, this game that somehow connects us despite the fact that most of us spend more time internet-yelling than actually playing it at this point.

There there you have it, a fleck of good news. Good night. d(º _ º )

Great for them as a company.

its cool to see some positivity.
i personally am more worried about the new MMOs that are going to be coming out within 1 years time that are modern graphics, not FFXIV graphics (but who cares if you cant pump out fixes and content quick enough), fast combat, various races, MOUNTS AT LAUNCH, auction houses, dungeons and various other features that FFXIV had to go back and try to apply.

tera online is a korean?? MMO (korean and U.S.?), pretty scenery, pretty cool races and super action packed battles

blade and soul is another korean MMO, but again, has really good graphics, super action packed gameplay, various races
oh and they get a summoner class at launch. my only gripe with the game is the in your face blatant asian specific aesthetic. according to fashion design, asian, african and british are three aesthetic extremes that should be edited, diluted or altered in order to not come of as being so literal.

star wars is more story based and less action packed (it seems) but is still non the less already more polished, has mounts and tons of things to do at launch including its own obvious indepth storylines and fast battles. (the classes are very generic though)

guild wars II will be coming out soon, fast battles, pretty good graphics, cool classes, pretty cool races, and you shape the outcome of your own storylines, its supposed to be done really well and very innovative according to past interviews and online chatting, but again who knows.

diablo III im sure will be somewhat of an MMO in most people eyes.

oh and lets not forget that blizzard has already started on their next MMO a few years ago so who knows on that one.

although its just talk and MMOs fail at launch all the time, i still have two big points
1- star wars, guild wars and diablo III all have their own very large fanbases that have been looking forward to these titles for years AND are already shown to be what those fans generally want in their game.
the two korean MMOs may not have a strong existing standing, but they offer things that alot of modern MMO players want, fast, dark/flashy aesthetics , and convenience. three things FFXIV knows nothing about.
i like fast so i wont complain.

"Gravity is a painful mistress..." --Tick, from The Tick

Yes my favorite blue cartoon hero. He can take the heat from falling of the top of a skyscrapper since he's nigh vulnerable. But it does sting a bit. Let's hope the Devs can simply brush off the dust when they pick the game up off the ground and crack a Tick winning smile.

But let's hope FFXIV doesn't turn into the ending like "Tick vs. The Infinity Ball"
