Hello again, all fans of FINAL FANTASY XIV!

Today’s letter marks the eleventh entry in the series, which is still going strong thanks to your support. As always, I’ll endeavor to keep you right up to date, so keep watching this space!

As promised, on the details of auto-attack, the lodestone crew have not been able to embed a video of this yet but I wanted to keep the information flowing to you our loyal fans as soon as details are ready. Version update 1.18 will see auto-attack implemented and is due for roll out on 23rd June (later than originally intended and I'l have to look into that). You will also see new quests added leading into the primal fight with Ifrit as well as other primals making an appearance! Defeat him and you will have completed the first stage in becoming a Summoner!!!

In our efforts to reduce effort, reward monotony you will see a revamped battle regimen system in which greater effort produces greater reward. Battle regimen effects will double making a significant improvement in the debuffs and damage dealt to an enemy. As well as some brand new and very interesting effects to discover.

Also as promised 1.18 will see levequest balancing go into full swing, starting with revisions around rewards. As for crafting and gathering, we’re tweaking existing recipes and adding brand-new ones for crafter gear ahead of the summer. I’m pleased to say we’ve concluded our feasibility study for the Materia crafting system, and will soon hammer out the details for the UI and start working on the data.

The shiny new job system promised is also ready for release along with the quests required to unlock them. The following table shows which skills and ranks you will require to take up the role of your favourite Final Fantasy job!

And that about does it for this letter. For next time, I’m planning to write all about our progress on Materia, and give you the details of our plans for alternative travel including airships and Chocobos!

Thanks for reading! Catch you next time and/or on the forums!

Happy Friday!

Hey we can dream can't we?

Edited name to make room for the real one which should be coming soon?

Oh well, subdefault I guess I wont fool anyone with that but I have a good laugh writing it. Not having a go at SE or the game or anyone still loving the game actually and looking forward to the real letter from Yoshi-:P

I actually thought this was a pretty good Friday thread. The letter was pretty believable and I wouldn't be surprised if it was at least CLOSE to what actually comes out. I especially like the "reward monotony" part. :P

Hmm tbh, Auto attack, Primal fight with ifrit, summoner quests, battle regimen system revamp, new job system with quest unlocks, info on alternative travel... if I'm even anywhere near halfway close I will wet myself xD

See, the problem with Happy Friday threads like this particular genre of Happy Friday thread is that most people (or at least I do) check the official forums or lodestone as soon as they see something like this to see the pictures and "official" version. As soon as I saw a thread entitled "Letter from the Producer XI", I immediately opened a new tab and went to the official forums to see if it was up there, making the Happy Friday loose all of it's punch.

It's pretty sad that I thought it was real and didn't get excited about it. :(

I think this thread is funny but I was disappointed we didn't get any info. I just got back from vacation and when I checked the lodestone I wasn't even shocked that it hadn't been updated. I'm just glad that 1.18 will come out soon, I kind of hope it fails though so I don't waste my time with this game anymore.

Dang, and here I was hoping for news of the next 490 MB patch, another patch that I could download and subsequently notice only three minor bug fixes stemming from it. but at least I'd be ready for when the game gets really good, right? ...right?

Methinks I am a prophet new-inspired:

1.18 will implement a few negligible changes, not enough to keep a casual player entertained for more than half a week, of course, but enough to count as "progress;" and Yoshida will tell us, "that's just the groundwork that you can see, the good stuff is in there... oh, it's in there, man..."

All believable...but then you said this:

Since I was a Summoner in XI, and I know how much SE hates that job, this line had me calling BS and checking the calendar. Yep...Friday.

I knew it was a friday thread (read that part before the quote), still read the entire thing, expecting it to be filled with promises that would make me smile, and finally decided that even if everything in the OP's letter would come true, I wouldn't even be that excited to log in and play. :/
