Obviously in the wrong forum for subject matter, but after reading other posts that seem on the mindset I just wonder: How many of you x-ffxi player's would play it again if Square started a fresh FFXI server and restricted any character transfers in? Maybe slowly adding the existing content updates every month? Or just as it is right now? Or what would you need in order to want to start on one?

I been really wanting to play FF11 for last few months but I utterly dislike the concept of Abyssea. I know that I wont ever get that same 1-75+ leveling experience that I loved. But instead be pigeon holed into level sync and abyssea leveling styles that I dont enjoy doing.

I don't know about anyone else but I experienced most of the content I wanted to experience in XI and have moved on.

Once I finished most of the story missions and leveled the jobs I wanted to level there really wasn't anything left. In the end after missions and other content is finished the only other thing that would keep me playing would be the friends I made, well, the friends are now playing XIV.

Plus I was never one to get much excitement out of getting shiny new gear that would increase my performance my 1% so that didn't factor in.

Each server should have plenty of former and current ffxi players. I know my server and linkshell have a good number of them. If your interested in that you should form a ffxi players linkshell and seek out members. Check your server forum linkshell list because there may already be one if you read the descriptions. A full linkshell of ffxi players would be just as good as a whole server, maybe better. Good luck ^^

This. A fresh XI server wouldn't change my opinion. I've seen all the things I've wanted to see. I want XIV to get better so I can play a new FF Online. Not one I've seen extensively for the last 8 years.

I'd really wish I could, because I had such a great time in FFXI, but unfortunately "starting over" =/= "starting". It's just not the same feeling, and FFXIV missed the mark by miles. I've tried my fair share of other MMOs but they're just not entertaining (Rift, Aion, AoC, etc). Spamming a bunch of skills on 6 second recast timers just isn't fun, which was one of the more disappointing parts of the game as far back as alpha.

Those of you afraid of abyssea should try it. There is more to it than a fantastic place to lvl. Seriously hunting the tons of NMs alone and triggering their weaknesses to get atma and drops adds a new wrinkle to the experience.

So basically you could fight said NM and win and "hope" for its drop. Or you can go prepared and proc its weaknesses and have an "almost know" you are gonna get its drop. The choice is always yours but like anything in life try it for yourself before you form your hardened opinion.

You can't have a fresh start on an old game. You already have the knowledge of what to do so half of what makes a game "fresh" is already gone.
