Saw some Japanese LS members of mine talking about it, but it took a good 20 min for it to show up on NA Lodestone...

Wonder what will be in it...

My guess is that if we see any changes (as opposed to the whole patch being 'hidden code') we'll see no more than some minor UI tweaks and maybe a few new battle animations.

Willing to bet on this as well, especially considering it kind of popped up out of no where (unless I missed it being mentioned).

There will probably be a few tweaks in the user interface. I wouldn't even go far to say they'll add anything more substantial than that. The battle animations will probably come 1.18.

either way the changes will be welcomed, the minor action bar tweaks in the video looked nice. If that's all we get, that'll be enough to hold me over until the big patch. :)

It's also possible that there could be a few small changes that didn't make it into 1.17b, but I think that's a stretch.

You're setting yourself up for disappointment. I doubt anything in that video will be released tomorrow.

There was a message a while ago about crashed/rebooted servers causing character data to rollback (experience gain was lost). They blamed it on some hardware and I'm guessing this is going to be a fix for that.

Wait, what???

Is that a joke, or is there really something going on with a fishing nerf?

Q: Currently the highest node a Botanist/Miner can gather from is Grade 5 while Fishers have Grade 10s, giving them a huge advantage over Miners/Botanists for skilling up. Will we be seeing a balance to this in the future?
In regards to fishing, we have been looking into lowering fishing spots Grade 6 and above to Grade 1.

I've been hitting gathering fatigue everyday trying to get R50 just in case they do this. I doubt this will be in the patch.

We have been looking into ways of increasing the leveling speed.

Hope it's faster than our grade 10 spots.

Fishing Nerf really?

Maybe it's just me but Nerf makes me think of something that will make a class/job less than the others.

If indeed they do remove the grade 6-10 Fishing nodes this will not be a Nerf, it will be a balance. Why would one DoL have Nodes which the other 2 don't?

My point is that the term "Nerf" is usually associated with a negatime conotation in which is somthing which is unfair.

In my opinion a game needs to be balanced between all classes and as such this should be seen in another light! This is the reason why I will consider this as a balance and not a Nerf.

But nerfing something is a means of maintaining game balance, just saying.

I'm not disputing that :), personally I think that the Term is just used in a negative way and is automatically persived as such as well by the majority of the comunity, as such I feel that we would be better off using the term balance than Nerf.

If that was the case, noone would have called the 2007 (?) FFXI Archer nerf a "nerf", because the majority of players called for it back then.

Once they see through the deception, deceived people usually are not happy.
Like when the same bells were labeled as new "events" three times in a row.

It may be personal preference, but I could swallow a straight "this idea sounds
dumb" better than the endless re-iteration of "we'll look into it".

If you were to be right then indded the majority of people would consider this as a balancing of the game and take it as a positive measure. Now if you look at the posts before mine you'll see that their reaction is quite the oposite so the only other option is that people prefer the game to be inbalanced, preferably in their favor.

I say we should just have one class get double SP than all other just because and that would be okay.

I still say that in my posts I stated that this was my perception of the word and tried to explain my point of view and why I disagreed with it. You're just being the Devil's Advocate for sake or argument so I'll just let you keep your point of view and I'll keep mine.

Without reading any definitions I was meaning it will be getting harder. They will nerf it. Ill rephrase...

They will be implementing the fishing nerf to make fishing more balanced and in line with other jobs.

There, also that was just a guess. I have no idea what will be in it. Just seems slightly suspicious though that there was no word of 1.17c and then shortly after the garthing Q&A they get this in quick. I wouldnt be surprised if they conducted these Q&A sessions to pick up on stuff like this. So I ask, What idiot asked them that question in the first place xD :P :P

*/powers through fatigue* cmon fish!!!

If I'm expecting nothing to some minor UI tweaks, how can I possibly be disappointed?

Woah, woah! Minor UI tweaks!? Take a step back, Johnny Positive! Somebody still has a fanatical level of hope for SE's ability...

Edit: I misread what I was responding to. Said post doesn't make sense in context.

I just hope I don't have to say the words "I told you so" if I see another thread about saying how this patch blows when it's only a lettered patch and going to contain some fairly minimal fixes. I assumed the action bar tweaks will come in line with the new battle system since it also involves removing the stamina gauge. Having the stamina gauge and the new timers just won't work properly depending on how they coded it. And it will also make the UI more cluttered, if even temporary.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one confused by that...

Ooh, wow. Misread on my part. I read that line as "if I'm expecting some minor UI tweaks". My mistake! I think the forum negativity has gotten to me and already has me jumping to conclusions and assuming the worst.

Sorry if I confused anyone.
