Changing Action Bars Mid-battleFollow

Is there any hotkey or macro command that I can write to change action bars reliably?

I've been soloing mostly so far, running with PUG/ARC/MAR weaponskills equipped on the first action bar, and CON healing and buffing spells on the second action bar. Usually I cast Protect/Shell/Shock Spikes (does no damage as a PUG, but it still stuns enemies regularly so I prefer it to Stygian Spikes) /Sacrifice on myself before a fight, and then if the other spells are still up I just recast Sacrifice for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th mobs etc.

Usually, I can change to the 2nd action bar to use Cure or Sacrifice on myself in the middle of a fight just by pressing the down arrow key, but for some reason this doesn't seem to always work. The times it doesn't, I end up scrambling for my mouse to try to click the tiny arrow on the action bar itself. I wouldn't say I die often because of this, but it happens, and it's getting annoying.

tl;dr : Is there any hotkey or macro command that I can write to change action bars reliably?

The keys won't work when you're not probably proper locked on your target. (I'm not talking about the lock on feature you can actually see on the screen) You should always be able to use the arrow keys once you've used a different ability on the target?

I haven't seen a /change actionbar command yet for macros :(
I guess you could make a cure macro in your situation.

the action bar is bugged and so far there havent been any advancements or fixes for it.
just fyi, when you move your camera angle the action bar is no longer selected and so you have to press enter again or try to cast another ability to reactivate the action bar.

hope that all changes at 1.18

I knew it. When I don't touch the camera at all, it's fine, and I can change action bars easily. When I move it even once during a fight is when this problem happens. This must be it then =/. Owell, I guess I just have to not be so **** twitchy with the camera if I want to be able to fight properly until SE takes a look at this. Would it really be that big of a problem for them to just set a particular key or combination of keys to ALWAYS change the action bar? Owell, I'll just do my best to deal with it I guess.

During certain NM fights, I'm seeing lag which is messing with my skills activated from my action bar. I press my Cure spell and nothing. In the heat of battle, I'll press again and see the spell activate. But what I'm seeing the first cure attempt starting and then cancelled quickly from the second press. I haven't even tried using macros due to the lag that sometimes occurs.

It's actually not. It's functioning exactly as intended. It may not be the best implementation of an "action bar", but it's not bugged.

K, but "as intended" is currently not working. That's not like... an opinion or anything, it just seems like... 100% an oversight/glitch.

Up and Down arrow keys scroll through action bar... move an inch, Up and Down arrow keys now change your targets, or if you're in a weird targetmode (who knows what A B C even really are, jesus lol) they don't do anything at all...

Somethings broken.

I use a game pad so I don't know if this applies or not using a keyboard but I tend to set my weapon skills to the first action bar and then cures and buffs to the second. I then set the cures and buffs to macros, that way I can fire off cures and such while never moving from the first action bar.

It't too bad that they have to design action bars for both platforms. I wonder what the game would look like if it was designed soley for the PC.

The targeting modes are so glitched, you'll be in one mode one second and then a different one the next, without you changing it. It so freaking annoying.

They have 3 different targeting modes ya know. I personally set it to /tmode a with the enemy filter selected. Left/Right for enemies, up/down for party. If I go in town, I set it to all or friendly. Never glitches for me and it doesn't change unless I want it to. I play on gamepad however so I don't even know how you change filters on a keyboard for tmode a though I imagine /tmode b is for keyboard users whereas /tmode c is for the dumb dumbs that like to hold onto autorun and then wonder why they are switching through their filters.

I should play on keyboard one day to see what this problem is but on gamepad, targeting and action bars are pretty **** sweet atm though it can be better.

I've been using macro's for any skills that are on the 2nd action bar.

SE made an announcement already regarding having multiple action bars display so the problem will be addressed in the mean time. Although i'll probably keep my "Cure <me>" macro cause forgetting to hit enter to self target has costed me my life on more than one occasion...

I acknowledge this might not be the most helpful response, but this is not a problem when using a controller.

The PS3 one is best, because there are windows drivers for the attached keypad (whereas the XBox one, ironically, has no Win driver).

If you use a controller the dpad will scroll action bars very easily (with L/R bumper for macro toggles) and you can still press 1-9 very conveniently on the keypad.

edit: typo
