Hello, My name is Vhalan in game, my physical level is 9 and Gladiator is level 10. So far i'm really liking the game but have run into a problem I cannot get a shield. >.< I have asked around town and off course checked in the market ward daily but still no luck if any crafter out there would like to help me out please respond to post and thank you!
Hi Vhalan! I had the same problem starting off as a GLD when I started the game at CE launch. This was before being able to search the market wards, which I would recommend.. I believe that shields should be listed in the battlecraft ward.
If for some reason you can't locate one appropriate for your rank there, I did the leg work for you and found the low-level NPC bought one here: http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/item.html?ffxivitem=4100101#Sold_By
After going to that link, you can even click on the NPC's name and it will show you where they are in the city!

Well thank you and i have been checking the market wards, looks like im going to have to find a way to get to ul,dah lol ty for your help though and i hope to see you around :D
Yes it seems that Ul'duh has become the hub of the world; most players have flocked to the city and spend most of their time there and in the surrounding area. I imagine you've found your home city fairly vacant because of this.
The market wards in Ul'duh are generally well stocked and you can find other players to socialize and party with fairly easily. At this point in the evolution of FFXIV's in-game community I'd have to recommend relocating.
The trek from either of the other two starting cities can be.. 'interesting' if you're not careful.

Easiest way would be to shout in Gridania for a teleport to Ul'dah. Once you touch the crystal, you can set it as a favoured destination to tele there cheaply, then return to Grid for 1 anima.
