Hi there. FF11 player here, how's the patch? Was thinking of switching over to FF14 but wanted to know if things got better. Input's greatly appreciated :)

Future Alma here.

Patch is pretty much what you expected it to be.

Yes, you.

Patch is going to be alright, but it's questionable how much actual content it will provide for players to keep busy. There appears to be some (raids), but its somewhat lessened by the fact that the current content is being trivialized (leves).

You think of leves as content?

Leves are the FFXIV equivalent to cleaning your house. Repetitive, monotonous and they keep coming back.

Think of Leves as your average, low-quality MMO "quests," but replace NPCs with the same, silent crystal. Skip the generic text either way.

Pretty much, with (at least for me), one minor flaw that ended up being a pretty big deal, and thats the location. Sure in wow/rift, I know I'm gonna go out today, leave a town and kill 12 wolves, but at least tomorrow I will leave a different town, and go kill 12 wolves in a different place. Maybe its not a big deal to some people, but it was killer for me to go out and do the exact same thing day after day. Not just essentially the same, but exactly the same thing, for rather long level ranges. its a minor fix, but since the mobs are pretty much instanced/phased (lets not bring up that ridiculous argument again), I don't see why they cant spawn the locations in a variety of places, or even randomly.

They actually used to spawn in different places at one point in alpha. Probably to spread out the 2000 people trying to jam into the same area. To be honest, I don't think it really mattered much other than to serve that purpose of PC clutter. Killing the same stuff over and over doesn't seem like it would be much better with different scenery. Crab party from FFXI anyone?

I did kinda like in alpha how as you killed the last mob it would run off halfway across the zone... When you finally caught up to it and charged it to beat it mercilessly for making you go out of your way, three more would spawn and make quick work of you.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

That still happens in some leves, only now you don't get full sp/xp credit for killing the one that ran, since it unclaims itself and you don't get full credit for killing something at less than 100% health. XD It's a feature!

Wow, that's ridiculous.
