I just came back last night after hearing the game is still free for now. So far im enjoying the changes made, the bazaar search function is amazing. The less time i have to spend in there the better. And the new graphic options makes the game run smooth on my "middle of the road computer." More content would be nice but for now i think i might stick with the game a while.

On to the questions.

Where do people go to sell stuff now? (besaid server) Do they set up shops anymore or do people just hit the bazaars an use personal shops just for extra storage? If so what city do most people use for the bazaar?

Also in the early levels, if i want to wear specific armor for looks will it really hurt me in damage? Figured i would start over at level one, and i forgot just how unattractive most armor seems to be.

Try shopping at Ul'dah. That's the hub for now. That may change after the patch.

Welcome back Lokiie.
Uldah is usually the best place to find stuff in the markets. ( SE is working on it. On some servers Grdania and Limsa seem to be deserted. So in the future it may change. )

Some people still bazaar, but not so much like it used to be at the beginning.

Ups, NightGrover was faster. Nvm.

Is this patch going to be really game changing? I havnt seen notes on it or anything yet. I did notice some new story quests in LL, of course im only level 7 with rank 10 archer, so i assume there could be more.

But yea so far LL seems to be pretty dead, which doesnt bother me too much since my prefered early level grind spot is the sheep over by the light house. But im more concerned with making some cash, i used to sell shards an sheep leather, but with so few low level players im not sure what to sell anymore. Do the shards still sell?

Like the others have said, Ul'dah market wards is the place to go for shopping. I check bazaars on people from time to time but they are almost always just being used to store extra items for 999,999,999 gil.

Do you mean like wearing a level 40 piece of armor at rank 10? I think that will still dramatically impact your stats, but rank 1-20 can be done in a day of easy playing now, so you might as well wear what you like during that time. :)

Edited to answer the new questions haha

Shards still sell quite well, though the price tends to fluctuate depending on which city you're in and how many people are competing to sell theirs first.

This upcoming patch is going to be introducing Grand Companies and some other stuff--it seems to be setting up the stage for all the really big changes to come.

Awesome, i will have to make a trip to Uld and see if i cant get a retainer. I always did enjoy that boat ride, wish it swayed an had a lil more flavor to it but its fun fishing. But im glad to see they are still trying to make the game better rather then just dumping it to side an charging people for a broken game. I have never heard of any other company doing something like this. Almost a year in an we are still on the free month, i cant beat free.

And with the armor i meant like wearing a coatee thats mainly for gatherers just for the looks. Im aiming for a vintage coatee with a sheep skin skirt and if possible to find, a nice eye patch lol. Had one on my first character, loved how it looked but i hated the human girly run so i ended up rerolling an losing it.

By the way, what do people do to level that fast?

Use the same ranking up mechanics as RMT, find an r50 willing to lend you a hand for a couple hours and let them beat the crap out of everything around Horizon, Nanawa Mines, and Copperbell Mines. 1-20 takes about 3 hours that way.

They've revamped the amount of SP/XP you get pre-level 30, so basically the best strategy is to do behests and kill roaming marmots until about level 10 (or some go all the way to 15), then grab your 8 leves, keep doing behests at the 30 minute point and finish your leves in between, rinse and repeat next reset. Don't be afraid to bump the stars up on your leves (especially if you're doing them with other people) at these low levels--if it's too much you can always lower the difficulty. I was getting 1200 sp per monster soloing a yarzon leve at Drybone at rank 12. :) I was rank 15 LNC by the time I was done playing for the night (from rank 1 when I started).

Mostly just running solo, but i havnt done a behest in a really long time. I tended to avoid em before since so many people would do em. So i didnt even consider doing those for exp, When do leves reset? i could have swore it was every 24 hours.

Also is there an easy way to transfer items between character? I know about using retainers but is there a safer way? I just dont want to drop in my stuff an then have it sell to some one else before i can log back in
