I haven't posted here in ages. I see patch 1.18 is now live. Do people party up now? Or is it still a contentless solo grindfest?

Apparently a seek party feature has just been added to this patch which went live just hours ago. Therefore it's too early to gauge the popularity or effectiveness of partying. Since I'm still downloading the patch I'd appreciate it if someone could explain the seek party feature and whether or not you really can LFP now.

I've tried it but it doesn't seem any different from purpose:none. just an extra spot to check when looking for people and another spot to be and hope that others looking look in the right spot. Leves give total crap exp now so I'm at a lost as to how I'm supposed to level past r20.

Oh and good luck soloing. I'm killing thinks around my level for less than a 100 per kill so it would take me about 200 kills to level up. If you are a melee class you'll get about 5-6 heals in with the new increase to cure mp cost before you have to wait to regen.

The hour before servers went down, I was randomly soloing coblyns in Nanawa Mines for about 145-170 SP each. When I logged back in after the maintenance was done, I killed a few to see how well the auto-attack worked, and at R24 I was getting 125-130 each, so IMO the SP reduction is not that much.

Also, to give you an idea of how solo friendly it is, I was 1000 SP away from Rank 25 after returning to Ul'dah. After doing the first Immortal Flames quests (quests give SP now), I dinged 25. As of this morning all I've done on LNC was turn in some more quests in the city and I'm already 6k in to R25--that's without using my lance at all lol.

As for groups, I've seen tons of people partying together at the camps and a lot of people forming up groups outside the R25 and R45 dungeons. There are people shouting for parties beyond grass raptor camps, so I'd say people are starting to party, but it's only been a day since the patch was released, so we'll see how that goes. I think soloing and partying both benefited from this patch in small ways.

Well, I'm outside Toto-Rak right now and while there are several people here, none seem responsive or willing to party. There is one guy looking for any job R1-50 for an unspecified instance raid but that's about it. I just started my own party recruitment, so we'll see if it pans out. Still, I really wish we had FFXI style flagging instead of this nonsense.

PARTY!!! How dare you use such a foul word on these forums. It seems someone needs there mouth washed out with soap.

all jokes aside, there is no partying yet and i don't think there will be for some time. the game is still fixated on solo orientation. something an MMO should never do. you want to solo there are plenty of RPGs that have more content, and entertaining NPC's than this game or any mmo will ever have.

MMO's should not be on the Anti-socialists list of games to play.

MMO's have changed really, the vast playerbase wow has showed MMO creators that most don't agree with your opinion.

I also like the old XI party system but game devs don't want to keep people like us happy, they want the big money.
