Cid spotted at the end of the Arms Race Ul'Dah Grand Company mission.

I should have taken a screenshot, but I didn't realize it was him until it was too late. He was a light-haired Midlander and said but one word, "Meteor..."

I like it when Cid says Meteor...

Edit: Spoiler tagged in case you really didn't know where you can find Cid

Yea, that was pretty cool. I ran those basic starter quests for each company last night, good stuff.

When I got to that point it was already somewhat spoiled because I caught a glimpse of a thread on the official forums talking about Cid. So I knew it was somewhere. But it was still an exciting moment. "Oh, is that?...It's him right? Hmm...I dunno, it's gotta be...YEAH!! That's Cid!!"

Really? Revealing there's a guy named Cid in a Final Fantasy game is a spoiler? The fact that you even get there should be a guy Cid in the game means you understand why that isn't a spoiler.

It's like if I told you about the giant yellow birds you can ride...

Oops.

Sometime, in the last week or so, a dev name dropped Cid as someone to watch out for. Not really a spoiler...more of a when will he show up and where.

Oh, perhaps a few more "My first few minutes in 1.18" threads would be more to your liking?

Shiva forbid ZAM and it's members actually disseminate information! Especially new information.

Although, I could see why you're upset. It's not as if he named the topic appropriately, and spoiler-tagged it or anything.

Nope. This game has been absolute garbage from the start, and when i log on later it would have been great to be suprised and find out about Cid on my own. This might make you and everyone else laugh but so far there has been absolutely nothing to get excited about with this game and story/characters is the only thing really keeping me around.

Anyway to each their own. Hopefully this game becomes fun before Sw:ToR and Guild Wars2 and the like comes out or i am sure i and many others will not revisit this game for a LONG time if ever. Which may be a good thing because it seems its going to take the amazing Yoshi-P years to make this **** smell better.

Its sad really, i am only around because of the name "Final Fantasy". It used to be special but i am starting to think those days are long gone.

Just my two cents.

I came to this board because i wanted to go over the patch notes again because im bored at work. Yes i could have went to Se's site but i have this bookmarked on the top of my list. "My first few minutes..." threads gives nothing away. I guess im really not mad at that person but more at SE and this game. It would have made my day to have Cid pop in somewhere with me not knowing. And if it takes that for me to smile about this game, then that tells you (IMO) how bad this game is.

I don't think the internet is a good place to go if your avoiding "Spoilers". ESPECIALLY a forum designed for discussing the topic you are worried that might be spoiled... Besides that, before now, the biggest surprise was that there WASN'T a Cid.

Does that make the original FF not a FF?

Actually, according to the Final Fantasy Wiki, they've gone and fixed that too.

Quote:
Cid does not appear in the original NES version. He is mentioned briefly in remakes, a retcon designed to extend the presence of Cids into every game of the core Final Fantasy series. Cid is described as the ancient Lufenian creator of the airship the Warriors of Light use.

Additionally, in Dissidia Final Fantasy, Cid is credited as the game's bodiless narrator, and is voiced by Bunta Sugawara in the Japanese version and Rodger Parsons in the English version. He is also revealed to be the master behind the cycles of conflict, Chaos's adoptive father, and husband to the woman who was the basis for Cosmos. As both Chaos and Cosmos were the result in his research on the manikins, Cid also created the Warrior of Light by transplanting his own memories.
