It doesn't have officil behest on your screen like behest in camp, so..

It happen to me near Camp Tranquil. Suddenly bunch of Garlean show up
Talk to nearby NPC to start (no quest title).
Beat them, you got a chest with Deaspected Crystal
Seems lot of player can join
And Garlean level were 20 (war hound), 25 (various garlean), 30 (garlean centurion)

This is interesting, though I wish they'd just use the Imperial Soldier model instead of just characters in a random assortment of dark black and red colored armor.

An empire really needs a bunch of faceless soldiers to feel proper. And those basic soldiers are not cool enough looking to be "elite" soldiers, I hope to see huge flocks of them soon.

Depends, in the story quest the majority of Imperials are like that, only certain "Elite" wear different armours (I think the Centurion).

If you think about it, it makes senses. Not all Imperial are Imperial born, most come from conquered City States, brainwashed into servitude.

I understand that, but the richest Empire in the world can afford to armor its lackeys.

I understand making the centurions (like the Judges of FF12) and other elite units in special armor. But the generic imperial soldier model out there is very much the "storm trooper" of the game, it does not look to me to be an imposing overly-armored elite unit.

Conquered states absorbed into the imperial military. I understand the sellswords hired by imperials perhaps not having armor. I'm not disappointed yet, but I hope to see the vast majority of imperial related content featuring the armored imperial soldier. Played FF12? Watched Star Wars? The great part about those empires is the mass of masked imperial soldiers cavorting about, it really gives you that sense of a huge overbearing imperial military.

You need to play FO:NV, the Ceasare Legion's bulk were made up of conquered tribals who are armed with nothing more than a machete and wearing modified sports equipments, and they are pushing back the NCR Republic with Automatic Rifle, Minigun, Rocket Launcher, Howitzer, Vertibird, Salvaged Powered Armour etc., along the way butchering heavily armed and armoured with superior training Brotherhood of Steel. Then there's WH40K, with the Orkz having patched-up/salvaged/wtf stuff and literally threatening the whole Galaxy, making all kinds of Gods wary and sh*t in their pants. So yea, sometimes you don't need overly armoured troopers to have huge overbearing imperial military.

Besides, the Garlean Empirte also have "mages" of their own, and mages usually don't wear armours. There are talks that trueborn Imperials literally are a different race to all the five of Eorzea, and they are imbued with Magitek. Their technologies are heavily Magitek, vs Crystal-based of Eorzea (Magitek Receiver vs Linkpearl for eg.)

Mages can always wear armor, even if it's a mix of plate and cloth. The point is creating an army of faceless, uniformed soldiers that really instills that sense of an overwhelming imperial force.

Yoshida was also the art director of FFXII and the Archadian Empire created the perfect mood in Ivalice. I'm not saying they can't do it still, and that these forces are just the rag-tag precursors to the main imperial army. We'll have to wait and see.

I got 0 SP since I was way too high for the one I did, but I got Bronze Scale +3 and Canvas Dalmatica +3 from doing the one at (I think it was Emerald Moss).

Can anyone be more specific as to the location where these start? Is there a certain time?

I haven't been able to figure out a schedule, the NPC randomly appears at a camp and then somewhere nearby a large continously spawning mass of mobs.

There's a new NPC, Ronan Kognan, just north of the Carpenter's Guild in Gridania. You can exchange one deaspected crystal for 10 shards of your choosing or 30 for a Peregrine Helm.

NOTE: I am likely off on the ratio of crystals to shards.

Well, now I have a new obsession, I have to have that silly looking helm. And I will wear it with a swimsuit.

I place the blame fully upon Seph's shoulders.

Just a little warning, it really can take a long time for one of these to start. Desperate to do anything other than leves, I parked my character there for hours last night, and now hours this morning, and nothing took place.

I've seen it happening several times when I was running to do something else, naturally.. And the one person that stopped by said that when she had done it it was about every half hour.

As soon as the NPC appears, somewhere within about 2 minutes of the camp is another NPC. You talk to that NPC to participate and then the waves start coming. The only thing that takes a long time is killing enough mobs to end the event if you're solo ^.~

*EDIT* Oare you meaning for the NPC to even appear? I haven't taken notice, I just did the ones when it popped while I was doing other leves.

Yeah, no NPC at all.
