Just wondering if any one has used these yet? (For those who haven't seen them, they are manuals you purchase at the company which provide SP boost for crafting or gathering)

Is the boost noticable and how long does it last?

I could use one myself but it would be a waste atm since I burned through all my leves and really don't have the mats or patience for grinding atm.

*EDIT*

Ok so from my initial results there seems to be a percentage based increase, roughly 60% using extremely bad math skills (yes I went to college... I didn't say I passed)

My initial experience with the manual over 4 leves (it dissapeared either slightly before or just after I switched classes... dunno if it was lost due to the switch or lost because I was idle while typing my second post and "trolling" the ZAM forums) But I SWEAR I saw it as a 3 hour timer.

*EDIT 2*
Initial testing is showing that there is a cap to bonus SP, that total is currently unkown. Lurex estimates 8-10K SP or 3 Hours.

Ok not scientific but...

R26 Leatherworker on a R20 Leve crafting Dodoskin Harness (gray)

(using nothing but standard to try and keep qualitity similar)
No Manual
Attempt 1: Q18 = 163SP
Attempt 2: Q39 = 157SP

W/Manual (Grants "Crafters Grace" for 3hours)
Attempt 1: Q32 = 287SP
Attempt 2: Q25 = 236SP
Attempt 3: Q34 = 281SP

OK now heres the even less scientific info

With Crafters Grace only (sorry I don't have 3 hours to wait until it wears off, but maybe this info will be useful for crafters who know a bit more how the SP system works and are crafting similar rank items?)

R29 Leather Bracers; I do have Glove training (attempts in order to save me from typing because as my OP suggests, I AM lazy)

Q64 = 437SP
Q47 = 521SP
Q81 = 434SP
Q32 = 497SP
Q27 = 422SP
Q40 = 477SP

So overall, while not scientific I think we can agree there is a measurable SP boost... what that measurement is will have to wait for those with time to dedicate. What I'm most excited about is the fact that assumedly the books for DoLs will net similar results and maybe make life a bit better for them whilst they await tweaks?

*EDIT*

Sorry I didn't track the rest or turn ins, but some how I got almost 20k total SP with 4 leves. Cord and Orders R30 with 7 attempts netted just over 1k per attempt. So these books are a definate must for DoL and DoH, it just requires some one a bit more scientific and with more time than I have to prove it 100%.

*EDIT 2*

Ok countdown timer was at 3 hours... I haven't had THAT many beers yet... When countdown was at around 2:50 I still had 40+ minutes of Tanners buff. Crafters Grace just dissapeared with 8 minutes left on Tannery. I don't have a second book or I'd do a bit more testing since I have 4 more leves for my Carpenter. FWIW though there doesn't seem to be a medicated type recast so grinders could burn up their Company Points quite quickly I think.

That is some very, very good news! I read the manuals and bought one to test it out, but I wanted to wait until this coming weekend when I could set up a good craft grind time. Having almost double sp from what you are showing, I really am looking forward to my last few levels of Leatherworking!

Well I hope some one else posts up, I am starting to second guess myself about the 3 hours thing... I swear it was 3 digits... but while I was posting I was in between leves and about to switch so I wonder if standing around doing nothing negates the effect... ie it's geared towards grinding... or if I was just seeing things (which is likely, it is about 10pm ^^)

Holy crap! Maybe I do have a reason to keep logging in more often until I can find a more active linkshell!

It's not our fualt you and Pikko decided to join a server other than the Unnoficial ZAM server ^.~

I truly do hope some one puts some more input into this topic, if not I'll run back and grab another book and try it with a simple craft for 20 without 20 with type math, but I really do dislike grinding >.> (This is where some awesome awesomey person chimes in with 2 days worth of grind data with and without manuals)

Maybe I can finally find the energy to do that last GLD rank ._. though local leves been good lately, so are the quests for getting extra SP.

This is unconfirmed, as I may have just lost track of time. But I would like to put forward that there is a good chance that there is also some other restriction other than time on these. I was casually leveling and crafting for about 2 hours (picked up a new set of local leves at 52 minutes remaining on the buff), and the buff wore off about half way through my second set of local leves. I had done around 25 individual synths, and made around.... I would guess 3000-5000 extra exp.

Yes I have used the manual. It appears to me, that you get a 3 hour timer when you use it. However it basically is an extra 8 to 10k sp bonus or 3 hours, whichever comes first. The effect will then disappear.
