Tech issues with sound/videoFollow

Video.. anyone else have an issue with the monitor being full screen? what I mean is.
I have a samsung p2770HD monitor. Its max rez is 1920x1080. When I put the game settings at 1920x1080. the lower 1/2 inch is off the screen, hiding the bottom line of my chat window. I have to click on the frame and drag it up, almost to the point where the red "X" to close the window is off the screen.
Why isnt it full screen? or why is it full screen but off set. This is the only game I have the problem with.

next. AUDIO.

Anyone else have issue with CPU sound being normal, but when playing FFXI its insanely loud. Its literally 3x-4x the volume in game. The stupid "DING" when loggin in always scares the **** outa me when I forget to adjust the sound. I have ingame sounds at LESS than 5% on the slider, and they are actually quiet. but no matter if I turn the ingame sound completley off, the login screen, the DING, and the click character screen are VERY VERY LOUD.

Anyone have ideas??

*** elements are known to often fall off the screen when you make large jumps in resolution. I doubt the game is actually rendering a larger area than is visible on your screen, though (it does render far through solid obstacles, though).

The sounds issue is something I've never encountered.

The problem is that the in game sound controls do not control all of the sounds for the game. Certain sounds still can be heard by muting the in game options. They just need to redo their sound controls completely so you can manage them all in the game itself.

As for the resolution issue it seems more like you have it set to be in windowed mode at 1920x1080 and not actual full screen mode.

It really sounds as though you haven't set the game to full screen in the FFXIV config. This is a separate option aside from setting the resolution.

Regarding the over-all volume of the game; I feel your pain. The PC I run XIV on doubles as a home theater PC with the audio being channeled through a fairly beefy stereo. If someone in the house was watching a movie or something and didn't turn the volume down afterward.. half my neighborhood will get scared to sh*t from that "Square-Enix" ding!
I don't think the game's volume controls have anything to do with it.

it is correct, i do NOT run it in full screen, I run it in WINDOWED mode. the Window size is 1920x1080, however the window is actually more like 2000x1200.

Running it in "full screen" just means constant "punts" anytime my cpu does anything.. ie.. messenger, or skype, or I want to check the loadstone for something... get booted off game, just like XI... what is the point of making it 1920x1080, when its NOT.

Every other game manages to read the numbers and apply it correctly, as well as having an ALT +TAB option... why is SE so against it...

Well if you want it in windowed mode with your full resolution then you are going to have to get someone's third party windower for the game. Off the top of my head some people have used steam to window the game and here is a link to one that a user on ZAM made.

I've been using Urste's windower for a while now, and it's been great.
