So basically you should be making or working with others on the guide you are looking for?

Some of us prefer to ask questions hoping that others have already beaten a worn path... I know I'm guilty. Though maybe this weekend we can put together a LS "raid" and make our own guide ^.^

Photocells as well chest are all in static locations. From what I've seen each chest seems to have their own loot tables. For instance, the first one has dropped the monocle for me 3x and another chest (one of the ones behind the south portal) dropped the same chest armor 2x.

The first chest has dropped the monocle for me twice as well. I haven't seen it anywhere else. I suspect the extra chests for clearing all barriers after the Shaula fight have their own loot pools too. It's the only place I've seen Tidesplitter, the Conj staff, and Warden of the Sun (or whatever it was called).

yep i noticed that as well, any more feed back on what loot you have goten from what chest or from what boss would be greatly apreacated. probly will start a new threed when i get more togeather.

I did this from memory, but I think it's fairly accurate (if ugly). http://static2.finalfantasyxiv.com/archive/0b7rbTY_-Xt1JHPkiUyc63zhb995iqsAMD-X6wyuvU.jpg

If I'm missing something, let me know.

looks great theres minor changes id do imo (like make the level 2 lock and photo cells different like you did with the level 3) and the drop at the start isint marked but other then that id give your map a 9.5 great job. no where as nice as the one i was working on ><

Just curious for those that have done it, is R25 actually a perfectly fine level to start doing this instance (with the intent to complete it), or merely the minimum level?

I through the map together in about 5 minutes for people who wanted to know where everything was. You're welcome to make a prettier one. The level 1 and 2 colors are different shades of blue, are they not showing up differently on your computer? Next couple of runs I do, I'll keep track of what drops come from what chests, and label them, but it might be a while before I get around to it.

You can start doing it at 25, but I doubt you'll have time for a full clear.

@ Baelari TY will be sure to note your great contrubition. been busy with 12 hr shifts and havent goten time to make my map so in a ence saved alot of time for the guide im working on.

@ ramsey i did it with a group of 4 all level 25 and did the level 2 clear with 2 min to spare. its realy hard so be prepared to posibly not clear it till you get it down.

About what level would you recommend is the minimum to clear the final boss? How about the objective for the grand company quests? (Assuming it's not "Defeat the final boss" I'm not on it yet so I don't know.)

I'm assuming there are trash drops or bosses that drop gear prior to the end that make partial clears worth it?

(Sorry for these uninformed questions, can't seem to find any FFXIV wiki that's been updated yet. And places like BG are only talking about the R50 dungeon really. If anyone can point me to a good source of general info on Thousand Maws I'd appreciate it!)

Edit: Thanks for the response Vaelfor, I guess there just isn't a lot of info yet, so I'll wait to see your guide. When you say level 2 clear, not sure what that means XD so you may have answered my first question with that response.

I'd be down. I'm not much of a writer, but I'd come along for the run as many times as needed.

Here's what I've compiled so far

1st chest: Torturer's Monocle
2nd chest: Warden's Barbut
Level 1 chest: Brigand's Acton
Level 2 chest: Brigand's Gloves
Level 3 west chest: ? (torturer's duckbills or warden's gloves)
Level 3 east: ? (torturer's duckbills or warden's gloves)

Antares:
Warden's Dagger
Poacher's Hat
Poacher's Tunic

Sargas:
Warden's Dagger
Ascetic's Tights

Shaula:
Charred Axe
Warden's Dagger
Poacher's Hat
Poacher's Tunic
Joukil's Guile (only from full clear)
Tidesplitter (only from full clear)
Heart of House d'Arlendre (only from full clear)
Waning Sun Pelta (only from full clear)

Ascetic's half-robe comes from the bosses, but I don't remember if it's a full clear or just one of the normal 2 chests. I suspect all 3 bosses share the loot pool of the first 2 chests, and the 2 full clear chests have a different loot pool. I've yet to see the Pug and Thm weapons.

Today I finished making my map of the Instance. I also then converted it into dats so it can be used in game.
I uploaded it to another site. Just to warn anyone visiting the site that it does have 18+ content on the site.

Here is the link, hope you all enjoy it and find it useful :)

You missed the first chest, and the Imperial devices NPC can also spawn in the room past the level 1 barrier. it depends on which circle you activate. Other than that, it looks nice.

Have we determined the spawn conditions for all the boss chests?

I was reading that its similar to the R50 dungeon.

There is the main boss-chest and then 4 bonus ones. If you fulfill certain conditions then you get the bonus chests. My thoughts on the conditions for the 4 conditions, please assist if possible.

-Time (<25min)
-Open all chests
-Activate all terminals?
-Kill certain monsters/clear certain area????

My group got our first clear (we all re-rolled after 1.18 to be on the server) last night. Being experienced MMO/game players and not completely failing at our various jobs, taking one of these NMs down was surprisingly challenging. Once we started getting towards 30, it seemed much more possible to kill Antares/Sargas.

We tried with all sorts of combinations with ARC, CON (even 2 of them), LNC, MRD, and THM. We tried a few different strategies, from AoEing in a cluster, to 2DDs on the NM and 1 person AoEing the mites, to other random ideas we had. We would inevitably wipe with Antares at 10-20%, which meant we were just coming up short (and getting frustrated). Thankfully, doing this instance is pretty fun.

It didn't seem to come together for us until later at 30/30+. Does anyone know of someone actually beating it with a group of 4 Rank 25s?

At 25 I think a GLA tank would be necessary. As a 25/26 GLA I didn't have much trouble tanking any of the 3 bosses, though keeping all the adds occupied (particularly on Shaula) was sometimes difficult. On Antares the adds weren't a huge issue, just get all your DD to target Antares but spam AoE WS with their TP.

Shaula is another story, I too doubt it could be taken by a group of 4 25s, though I suppose that may be the point. You can start the instance at 25, but it has legs that carry it into the mid 30s.

Shaula might be possible GLA,MRD,ARC,CON seems like the most likely group to walk away with a win. GLA tanking Shaula, MRD AoE tanking and off tanking the larger adds, with ARC DDing down Shaula and the CON focusing on heals. I'm not sure how good meds are in FFXIV, because I rarely use them, but it might that in the case that this fight is made impossible by the CON simply running out of MP, that a few ethers may make the fight possible.

A few meds could really a tip a fight in your favor in FFXI.

Thanks for replying. This is definitely good information for people looking to complete it at lower levels.

I actually used a few Potions during our fights. They don't hurt. I would most definitely use a macro like the one below.

/item "Potion" <me>

In addition, I don't think people should be afraid of using some food if they are lower level. Even getting something cheap with some HP or MP bonus helps out, no matter what your stats/elements are.

In my experience the adds have way too much HP for them to be worth killing and they should instead be kept on the tank if possible. I think it's somewhat unfortunate as I feel actually dealing with adds would have added a nice extra dimension to the fights. Right now they simply add to the boss DPS and you race against them by trying to focus down the boss as fast as possible.

Did you try Battle Regimen? Being low level without certain Weapon Skills, you need to pull Normal > Normal > Weapon Skill ASAP to limit the boss TP attack, as well as spamming WS > WS > WS > Magic to do uber damage on it afterward.
