In regard to an inquiry about a way to hide an equipped weapon/tool:

In response to the desire to have "fun in the sun" without the need of carrying a bulky, or dangerously sharp, weapon at your side, the dev. team will implement a text command in patch 1.18a that will allow you to visually hide your weapon while in passive mode.

This is only a temporary solution, and using the command will also hide other character's weapons, too. While having your weapon hidden, other players will still be able to see your weapon. Logging out will also reset the display toggle as well.

Patch 1.19 will have the feature finalized to be more like the current display headgear option where both you and other players will see your weapon toggled off.

So be sure to have fun in the sun with the upcoming swimwear, without fear of accidentally impaling yourself on your gladius!

In regard to a discussion where OP used the example that buffs like Defender do not show how much attack goes down and defense goes up:

Will this apply to food, I wonder? Hopefully it will so people can finally know the true worth of food buffs

Actually, it's already been stated that food stats will be visible around 1.19ish.

Heh, so SE is adding in more visibility when it comes to food effects, magic enhancements, and... I guess swimwear, too. Just don't make those bathing suits too revealing, now, (looking at you, Sage Sundi).

So in 1.20 we will have a command to hide armour/clothes/bikinis! That also affects other players too!

Or not?

They're bikinis. Tarutaru Lalafell females get a sort-of bikini too, but a sarong covers their lower half a bit better. Naturally, the men are a bit better covered but im still looking forward to getting my swimsuit if only to add a bit of colour to my otherwise drab wardrobe.

As for hiding weapons, im not sure I see the appeal if its visible only to you. I suppose it could be considered eye-candy of some sort but I file this update news in the 'meh' section. Not interested myself, but I don't see a reason not to add it.

Buff transparency is something that should've been there from the start (FFXI did this!) and is a definite requirement for certain abilities because im almost entirely convinced they don't have any effect. (I'm looking at you, Absorb-ATK!).

Food effects should state on the ITEM what bonuses it will give you before you even eat it! In FFXI, food was a staple of the game mechanics, and I always ensured I took the right ones to a group. Now, its more of a side thing that I could care less about because (a) I don't know what im looking for and (b) Can't even find it when I do. The effects on items are so random depending on class, race, time of the month, sun position, whether you had Nachos with it and whether or not you're pointed towards Mecca.

It's all too much to process for me, so I'll wait until they have a giant +10 magic potency plastered on the packaging or something. Now with 50% more Marmot!
