Looking for Server/LSFollow

Hello all! I'm a FFXI vet who just picked up XIV after reading about 1.18. I've rolled a character on Karnak, but was surprised to how empty the world seemed. Granted, I'm still figuring things out, and haven't ventured any further than Bearded Rock, but what concerns me is that I've witnessed no human interaction thus far, no one waves back, no public chatting, nothing. I'm sure that by now a lot of people are off doing/killing great things and I'm still a nub who just found out how to re-sheath his sword, but I guess my point is that I'm looking for a good server to roll on with a friendly/relatively active player base, and also a Linkshell that is taking on new members. I'm not looking for any hand-outs or hand-holding, I just want some friendly chat to scroll across my screen, hoping to pick up some pointers from time to time, while I explore/level up.

TL;DR version: What is a good server to roll on with a healthy population and are there any Linkshells that are taking on new players?

Thanks in advance!

A bunch of my XI friends and I re-rolled on Trabia this past week. We welcome any newcomers to XIV, XI vet or otherwise.

The population on Trabia seems alright, with people actually responding to shouts. Feel free to make a character there and send a /tell to Ernie Keebler or Keith Dragoon.

You will find that right now all servers have a healthy population due to the latest patch being a big motivator; The population just depends on the area you are at and the time. You will still find Uldah being the most populated area.
I personally would reccommend that you take a look at each of the server sections, and just poke around. See if you can find some of the advertisements that you think would do well for your personality.
Some of the better Linkshells might require you to register though. I started doing that in mine because I wanted a way to keep in contact with members outside of the game, and have found it to be a massive help for planning events, and helping others.

Thanks for the quick replies and the great info. I'm planning on spending some quality time checking out the populations this weekend and I'll be sure give Trabia a look. Thanks again!
