Hi, I've recently came accross a huge problem with ffxiv combabitly and found a fix! So i am here to share my story and help some fellow gamers. If anyone has got the error for "Windows 7 has stopped working" and then their game has shut down this is the forum for you!

1# reason this happens is because of minimal requiments to run the game. Please make sure your computer can handle the game. If you are on a low budget computer or you have a laptop that doesn't have a dedicated graphics card you probly won't be able to run FFXIV.

2# Drivers not being up to date. I know CCC has had problems before with FFXIV, they should all be fixed by now. Make sure all your graphic drivers are up to date. Also make sure that your Direct X drivers are up to date.

3# now if you meet the minimal requirments and your game still gives you this error. It's probably a memory leak. You could run all your other games at max settings and be fine. I could run WOW and Hon at full resolution+Effects and run at 60+fps. This game has very bad programming (no offense FFXIV), when there is a memory leak it will crash immeditally, instead of a lag or a gltich. Now if your crashes are very random and it runs smooth while it runs.. I would do this. Download a program called MemTest86 http://www.memtest.org/#downiso Run this program when restarting your program. There should be directions to getting it setup. Test your ram for couple hours or complete all the test a couple of times. If you have alot of errors in one area trying removing one stick of ram and retesting to see which one is bad. When you find a bad stick of ram you can replace it or simply take it out if you have enough ram left.

Please tell me if you guys get any postive results. I really fill like FFXIV is turning there game around and I want to help people be able to play it. My system specs
Windows 7 64bit
8 gig ram DDR2
Quad core processor 2.5gz
EVGA nvidia 550ti card
1Tera HD

Happy playing

A memory leak is when a program doesn't release all of the memory that is allocated to it when it is finished with it due to bad programming. Memory leaks typically cause a crash after the program has been running for a while not immediately. They can often be spotted by checking how much free RAM is available. It will get less and less until there is no free memory left.

Also your post made it seem like you were saying that physically bad memory is what causes memory leaks. You might want to edit that into two separate paragraphs.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:
