Hey guys I am ashamed to say I am one of those who ditched on this game after a little over a month because I just wasn't enjoying where the game was at. It was my first time being part of an mmo launch and I was expecting a bit more than what they had at the time. Was just wondering if anyone can sorta sum up any major changes that have been made to the game in the past few months. Thanks! ;)

If you are looking for the changes to the game for the last couple months, I'd suggest looking at the lodestone website. Ready the last 5 or 6 letters from the developers. There's really only been 1 BIG patch and then 2 or 3 small patches. The major patch was 1.18. If you read the changes from that, you'll see the major changes that have come since the released all the little NM's in 1.17(I think that's the one that added them all). Plus parties have been reduced to 8 people max. Dungeons have been added that are supposed to focus on light and heavy parties. Light parties being composed of 4 members and heavy composed of 8 players. Is there any specific subject or is it just in general the changes that you would like to know about?

No reason to be ashamed you quit, the game was a steaming pile of garbage at release, only retards like me stuck around, and even I took a couple months worth of breaks.

Two things I was wondering about specifically: 1 was if the crafting system had any sort of work done to it. I remember it feeling pretty random during synths and the skill levelsfor some of the stuff seeming out of wack like the mats needed to craft a piece of armor needing a higher skill level to make than the actual piece of armor itself :/
Secondly I was wondering if they managed to get rid of some of the seemingly endless menus found throughout the game I don't think anything frustrated me more than having to click about five times each synth or spending ten mins to empty my bags of junk at a vendor.

No, and no. ;)

Actually, things have changed with crafting and with menus. Hexaemeron is just a troll.

Crafting is much better than it used to be, though still not great.

The success/failure ratio still feels a bit random to me, but I, like you, took a lot of time off and I am sure the experts around here can tell you more about how to reduce the randomness.

The biggest change, to me, is the speed and streamlining of the crafting menus. They run a lot faster than they did on launch (the lag has been cut from probably 6-8 seconds for the menu to open to almost but not quite instantaneous), and when doing crafting Leve's, instead of having to dig through the menus a message pops up after finishing a recipe asking if you want to do it again.

Also, the game now saves the last eight (I think?) recipes that you have made, so if you are grinding you no longer have to add all the ingredients every time.

As for non-crafting stuff... battle feels better to me now with the auto-attack, they have added side quests (which have been minimal at my low levels, but the ones that are there are interesting and entertaining).

Probably the best I can say at this point, is that FFXIV now feels like a game and not a chore you don't want to do after work. There is still a lot of room for improvement, but it is definitely heading in the right direction.

I'm a troll because crafting is 95% the same as it was at launch? Is it intuitive now? Is it streamlined with an absolute minimum of input?

No? Didn't think so. Go get another rank 50, WK.

Crafting: Spam standard for 3 minutes, collect item.

Menus: Still there, but streamlined to the point of 'incredibly annoying' rather than 'cut myself repeatedly'.

Because something with the "absolute minimum of input" is as fun as can be, right? >_>

When I say "absolute minimum of input", I don't mean "simplistic", I mean I'm not fighting the UI to do something. In FFXIV, the only challenge in the game pre-1.18 was fighting the UI.

I want challenging tasks without being challenged navigating a sub-par UI.

I like that they chose to have the player involved with crafting this time. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any method to it. Sure, depending on what you choose you can get through with a synth faster or get a better chance at a high quality item, but the crafter doesn't really have any control over that aside from selecting which method you are pursuing.

The UI is still just a mess.
