This may be a dumb question, but your help is much obliged.Follow

Hey, so I'm dumb; however, hopefully you can help me become smart. How do I pursue other classes? I'm a marauder right now, but I know you can jump classes, so how do I do this? I'm sure I can sift through some guide, but I figured this would be easier. Thanks for the help. Herp. Derp.

switching classes can be done by equipping a weapon or tool or the class you want to become. You can purchase the basic 'weathered' gear for all classes from various NPCs in the starter cities.

All you have to do is equip another weapon or tool. It's really that easy. Equip a hand-to-hand weapon and you become a Pugilist. Equip a pickaxe and you become a Miner. Some NPCs sell low ranked weapons and tools, but I don't have a list of them off hand.

Couldn't find a nice organised list of all the NPCs and the starter equipment, so I made one. You can find it here -> ffxiv.zam.com/wiki/Equipment_Guide_-_Starter_Weapons

*Some terms and conditions apply, not all weapons are available in every ward, equipment void in Quebec.

This confused the **** out of me in beta, too. It's just so weird being able to equip a wand and all of a sudden being a magician.

(lol XD)

Seriously though, it's no problem OP. Even though it's simple, the game doesn't actually tell you that. I suspect that might be part of the revamped tutorials they have coming down the line.
