Every game I have tested didn't care much about storage and this is coming from a storage fan. Add a second video card if you want a better experience, and make sure to over clock the living snot out of that processor.

FFXIV isn't optimized for SLI/Crossfire. From what I have heard from everyone adding a second GPU doesn't improve performance at all.

However I will soon be upgrading my CPU from an AMD 5K+ to an AMD Phenom II X2 565 Callisto and overclocking it to 4.0GHz.

:)

Bad advice.

The best performance boost you will see in this game comes from your CPU clock speed. Get a faster processor or overclock the one you have.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

I agree, I had a dual core and then went to a quad (approx same clock speed) - it fixed up "half" the UI lag I had, the rest of SQEnix's fault

as for SSD's ya, I'm in the "never will I build a PC/laptop without a SSD again" camp too, once you go SSD u can't go back - btw I hear the new OCZ Vertex 3 (SATA3) ones are prone to dying, we tried 3 at work and they all blew (SF-2231) I think is the controller. I use the Intel ones, and the OCZ Vertex 2 (old sandforce controller) and both are your best bets. If you're upgrading from a HDD to a SDD look for Acronis True Suite it can clone drives almost flawlessly.
