I agree... plenty of games use the "insta-pop" technique for mounting. Sure its been around for a while, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Maybe they want a mounting animation like the active/passive mode worked at release... *running* STOP... pull weapon out... *run slower* -> *running* STOP... watch 3-5 second animation of getting a chocobo.
I'm sure that would be nice until people start complaining that:
"it takes longer to get on the chocobo than to get to where I need to go"
"I died while mounting my chocobo"
"my chocobo ran off as soon as I got on it because I was being attacked"
"the animation doesnt meet my expectation"
"why cant the animation be like this <insert random example> "
Second option is they have it how active/passive mode is now.. I.E. the fancy glide slide we have today:
"This is totally unrealistic, you move while mounting!"
"This ruins my IMMERSION!!!!"
"Why does the chocobo run before I'm on it?"
Just be happy the beta version of chocobos is in the game.
