I don't think it's just you. My wife and I got some unduly severe lag in, say, Ul'Dah, and let's just say that our computers (especially mine) meet FFXIV's requirements. Server problems are continually acknowledged by the dev. team, though, if that's any consolation.
Soon as people came back for the event, I started lagging even in the outdoor fields. I had to drop my graphics to minimum just to function in Ul'dah.
They don't do some serious engine optimizing and/or add a lot more hardware to the server clusters ( if they actually have clusters, which I'm starting to doubt ), "relaunch" is going to be a dismal joke.
Yoshi talking about PvP battles when the server currently groans with more than a couple hundred people online serverwide at the same time and wants to roll to a stop when more than 50 characters congregate in one area (like Ul'dah) is hilarious to say the least.
