I have to say, for those drawing (obvious) comparisons to a certain game that shall remain nameless, for very good reason, DO NOT!...even think about it.

I'd have to say the equipment more resembles Japan's most popular online series, than it does the nameless game. This gear looks like something straight out of Monster Hunter, and I dig it.

More importantly I VERY much dig the fact that the luminosity maps are only turned on when the weapon is drawn, and I hope they keep this style for all weapons with special effects. I absolutely despise enchanted weapons or enhanced weapons in other games, because I hate the constant mosh of glowing people running around. But if the weapons only erupt into flames, glow, create crazy sparkles etc, during combat, I can totally live with that.

I won't mind seeing slightly more exaggerated equipment, if it's in the style of Monster Hunter, but I'd reserve that equipment for things like this, where there is a specific style designed after a certain beast. As long as their are options, and the equipment doesn't go outside the realm of believable fantasy, or break the overarching style, I'm fine with it.

I'll have to agree with this. It's not any other games I thought about when I see this. As a Monster Hunter veteran, I see MonHun design all over this. I admit to feeling uneasy when seeing the bow and the fists, but others I can live with. Now where's my Ifrit bowgun? :D

Before reading that guys post, I seriously thought those were Rathalos/Lavasioth weapons too. The materia system reading out like gem'ing armor adds to that feel as well. When they introduce Wyrms they just gotta let us cut off the tail, and manual collect loot off of it as it lays on the ground, plus chasing fleeing NM's around the area, setting floor traps, and more absurd hybrid weapons.

But they'll have +25 Fire affinity! Sweet sweet Fire affinity, just what we need!

OH snap edit! I just thought, if they add Ixion they could staple copy MH's Kirin, complete with prancing out of attack range all day long, and everything having stun effect.

I agree with the thinking that items from a primal battle make sense to look better than the average weapons. It's neat that the weapons looked to be forged from parts of Ifrit. This style would be a nice trend for future primal fights, if SE implements them to battle against(I'm guessing they would, but you never know for sure!).

Exciting items I look forward to getting! ^^

Go patch 1.19!

I also agree that weapons awarded from primal fights SHOULD look more gaudy and fantastical than normally crafted weapons...otherwise what's the point? If fighting Ifrit on hard mode (which looks really hard) gave me the equivalent of a Wrapped Maple Bow, I'd feel kinda let down...

And since they are simplifying weapon damage types (see Ice damage added to GLA's Frostbite sword), it would make since that these weapons would have "Added fire damage". Maybe they'll even do a Mega Man-esque system where Ifrit weapons may not be the best weapons available but would be the optimal choice for taking down Shiva.

Final Fantasy always had elements play a large role in combat, not Final Fantasy XIV though, no siree, you can kill air elementals with air magic. So I find that idea very unlikely unless they... finally adjust elements to mean something. (/prays to the FFXIV gods.)

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:
