So, translater?

Honestly would rather just read what he is saying after it has been written down and translated in text.

Sounds like there will be patch notes and this. Clearly they have a lot to talk about.

Depending on how they field questions, this could either be quite enlightening, or a total disaster. I shall pray for the former.

Looking forward to this. Though, I'll probably only be able to catch it on YouTube after the live stream ends.

I am going to ask about any incoming expansion, when will the level cap be raised and what are they going to plan for the market wards(or economy for that matter).

12:00 GMT --> 8:00 AM EDT, 7 Central, 6 Mountain, and 5 AM Pacific.

............What?

You just said the same thing I said. The time post is 5 AM Pacific, he asked what time central... which is +2...? Therefore it's 7? If you thought I was implying EST is GMT+3 or something asinine like that, no. I was saying EST is PST+3, if he doesn't understand timezones already, why confuse him with GMT-5, etc.

I am guessing there will be some kind of ps3 update, simply because of th unusual decision to do this live letter.

That said, I think the ps3 release must still be at least six months off...

Didn't really think about that. However, even ignoring that the Live LftP is nice considering the MASSIVE changes to the game in this patch...my biggest question/suspicion is...how do they plan on setting levels to all of the new gear?

Current range of gear based on cloth type:
Hempen: 1-18
Cotton: 11-28
Canvas: 21-38
Velveteen: 31-48
Linen: 50 (based on current trend this should be 50/51-68)
Woolen: ??-??(based on current trend this should be 61-78)
Felt: ??-?? (based on current trend this should be 71-88)

Unless they plan on changing the level range of gear (and corresponding recipe levels) are we in for a Level Cap increase?

And if they did change the level range for gear, how would they plan on squeezing THAT much gear in the short span of 50 levels? It already seems like you can change gear almost every level/or every other level...????

Any thoughts?

Seing as raising the level cap at this point would obsolete all the current end game content, I'd doubt we will see a cap raise for at least a year(probably same time as an expansion anouncement).

Questions about 1.19, or about the game in general? I take it they will answer the questions that are about things that theyve talked about in the live letter, 1.19, or previously stated but not yet implemented stuff. Most of the time we dont answers to questions that are out of that range do we?

I don't know about Weaver State, but as I said in my post in the other thread, many of the previous sets of gear are simply "going away". That is to say, 77% of the gear you used to be able to make from Armorer will no longer exist if they phase out the old recipes (which they said they were going to do by 1.21). It is entirely possible that all of the new gear is to replace a lot of old gear, not to expand on it.

Think about what you are saying. It doesn't make any sense at all. The old recipes for iron platemail will go away... but be replaced by new recipes for iron platemail that are simplified.

They're not just going to remove bronze and iron plate from the game and replace them with steel and cobalt, it doesn't make sense in the progression of levels, resources, anything. Nor would it be a smart move from the perspective of art assets, they'd be wasting already created assets. If anything they ought to push the level on iron plate down a few, and then put steel at around 50, and have cobalt be a much rarer resource, and thus a luxury item.

We'll see what they do, honestly I too am confused at how they will fit it all without major adjustments or a cap raise, but removing old gear entirely is not the path they will take.

Youtube tend to big up Live broadcasts (although mainly for their own benefit, reminding people of what youtube is capable of) and advertise them well, so that'll get some good publicity going.

I think its great that we're in a community where we can all ask questions up front and hear responses in real time, regardless of what language we speak.

I'm sorry Ramsey, I am thinking about what I'm saying, I did for about an hour when the information was first released. They are removing several items that are required to make 103 Armorer pieces of equipment and have not added 1:1 replacements for them. I will quote a few:

Bronze Chainmail: Requires Taupe Sheep Leather (among other things), ::removed:: No replacement recipe given for either Bronze Chainmail nor Taupe Sheep Leather.
Bronze Haubergeon: Requires Bronze Chain Sleeves, ::Removed:: No replacement recipe given for either Bronze Haubergeon nor Bronze Chain Sleeves.

Unless another set of changes are coming (and I'm not saying they aren't). Those 103 items will be totally inaccessible to make more.

Edit For Clarity: Gear in the game will not be going away. They are not taking away our gear. My observations only show that they will be taking away the ability to make more of that type of gear (not with that recipe, make any more at all).

I should clarify, I understand what you are saying, and logically, it doesn't make much sense, but the facts are there. They have created dead end paths, and not just a few 103 (77%) of the Armorer gear would no longer be creatable (what is the right way to say that? I've been struggling with it all day...) if they take away the current recipes at 1.21 without adding more alternative paths for them.

I can't find the particular quote right now, but Yoshida indicated that all existing gear would have new recipes implemented for them. It's likely that this list is not exhaustive, featuring only brand new gear recipes.

One can make assumptions about how the new versions of existing recipes will be laid out based on the new gear though... For instance...

In fact, has anyone noticed that some of the stuff has been removed from that list since last night? I no longer see ANY details about the new armor, unless I'm totally blind it seems to have been removed...

Anyways...

Assuming cobalt plate is something like: cobalt plate x2 cobalt ingot x1 buffalo leather x1 iron chain x1, (not exact, as it looks like they removed the recipe entry) we can then assume iron plate is: iron plate x2 iron ingot x1 buffalo leather x1 bronze chain x1, etc. etc.

I would be seriously shocked if they decided to go back on that idea, and instead make it so you simply can no longer make all of that gear. It wouldn't be the first time SE has not posted an exhaustive list of recipes...

Fair enough, and certainly true. I only made my post based on the information present. Also, the wording of the accompanying post on the official forum made it sound like it was an exhaustive list.

And Cobalt Cuirass was:

Cobalt Plate
Mythril Rings
Electrum Ingot
Earth Shard
Ice Crystal

I still have the tab up from this morning XD.

Certain parts may be exhaustive, like what is being removed, but I doubt the adjusted recipes list is exhaustive, really wish I could find the quote about updating old recipes, oh well lol. We'll see in a few days, I'll definitely be testing.

It was already stated if I remember right that some of the recipes were missing from the list. Don't quote me on that, I have been perusing the official forums for the last hour and have read a lot of stuff.

I won't be able to attend this but for anyone unsure about what to ask I'd suggest the following:

-Plans for the servers (merging, transfer, regional and/or making some commands clientside to reduce the input delay)
-Will current players be able to change race/gender to male Mi'qote or female Roeg at PS3 launch or only new characters.

If they don't talk about the ps3 release date for this big of an event, it'll have to be a pretty **** amazing upcoming patch. They never did stuff like this for FFXI either before the level cap announcement came up.

Which would not surprise me. I would think that some sort of PS3 beta would have to be done though. I remember signing up for it back when PC was still in beta and then the horrible news came. Then again, they may skip it altogether.

Also, I'm central time zone noob, so is that 7AM or 7PM for the broadcast, and would it still be the 4th?

If they don't talk about the ps3 release date for this big of an event, it'll have to be a pretty **** amazing upcoming patch. They never did stuff like this for FFXI either before the level cap announcement came up.

True.

I am guessing there will be some kind of ps3 update, simply because of th unusual decision to do this live letter.

That said, I think the ps3 release must still be at least six months off...

They said they still had plans for a PS3 beta. It would be pretty irresponsible not to, for various reasons.

If I understand then, there will not be a typical text-based patch notes today? At least until the Live version is translated and written out?

Usually the Letter, Live or not, is not the same as the Patch Notes that they said would be coming today. I guess we will just wait and see.

So it's safe to expect the translated text version of the Q&A to show up on Lodestone?

I can, depending on what shows up. Taking notes for my LS on our page and then I'll repost them here (and in the link in my sig) if no one has.
