A faster way to patch?Follow

FFXIV is finally in my hands but the patcher seems monstrously slow. (24 hours for one out of nine segments?) Is there a better way?

I usually just open the "metafile" folder in the XIV folders - and click the patch torrent which the horrible updater is on. That opens the torrent in Utorrent, which downloads the patch at a reasonable speed.

Once the torrent has finished downloading, I open the folder it downloaded to, copy it, open up the "Patches" folder in the metafile folder, delete the 10% downloaded patch that is there, and paste in the fully downloaded patch

If you do this it is nice if you upload for awhile after you finish.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.

Check your ports, I just did 2 fresh installs on my new laptop and desktop and spent no longer than 3 hours each downloading and patching.

You are in violation of the ToS! Might as well hook up a rapid fire controller and afk craft all day!

/sarcasm off

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

I don't know... literally takes me 2 minutes to download a patch.

Maybe router / ports / bandwidth limitation?
