Quote:
High above the Twelveswood, the raven circles, evermore seeking out truth hidden amongst the shadows of the trees.

In today’s edition, field correspondent Oliver Goodfellow lifts the veil of mystery surrounding the suspicious characters who have appeared with the coming of All Saints’ Wake.

¤ Ware Winged Fiends!

Daniffen. Randolfe. Llafymae. These names may or may not ring a bell. If ever you have had occasion to visit the Adventurers’ Guild, however, I daresay you already know the personages to whom they belong. Aye, I speak of the saints of old who grace guildleves—the individuals revered as paragons of virtue and raised high by the Twelve themselves. Their legacy remains with us to this day, most visibly in the form of splendid stained crystals upon said guildleves. And then there is the ancient custom called All Saints’ Wake.

Legend tells that, at the same time each year, the Twelve honor the saints by inviting them to the celestial realm for a feast of deific proportions. While this show of favor from the gods is no less than the saints deserve, in ascending to the heavens, they leave the mortal realm bereft of their divine protection. During this time, it is said that creatures of darkness come out from hiding to wreak havoc upon mortalkind, and with such gusto as if to make up for the rest of the year when their devilry is kept in check. Fearing for their safety, folk took to returning home before sunset and barricading themselves indoors with kith and kin until dawn arrived to banish the night. Over time, this practice took root and flourished into the annual tradition we know today.

All Saints’ Wake draws nigh once again, and folk can already be seen scrambling for the supposed security of their abodes before the sun kisses the horizon. As common sense dictates, there are those of certain professions who have not the luxury to observe the custom. However, it appears this fact was not made known to a rather superstitious crew of prison wardens, who decided to retire for the day well ahead of the scheduled change of shift. And as ill fate would have it, these wardens had charge over the surveillance of none other than a malevolent band of imps. Left utterly unguarded, the winged fiends managed to win free of their cells, and are now at large in the city-state. The imps have since assumed the form of citizens, the better to afflict hapless townsfolk with such vile deeds as only their vile minds can conceive.

When the incident came to light, the Adventurers’ Guild was promptly tasked with returning every last one of the creatures to imprisonment. Runners have now been dispatched to each of the three city-states, garbed in the likeness of a demon said to plague the mortal realm during All Saints’ Wake. All attempts to seek an explanation for the peculiar choice of costume have yet to yield a satisfactory answer, but some suggest that it is intended to draw the attention of adventurers.

One cannot find fault with the Adventurers’ Guild for keeping in the spirit of tradition in the face of an imminent outbreak of chaos. However, only the gods and the saints above know how their bid to recapture the imps will unfold.

~ Oliver Goodfellow

I hope the reward doesn't suck. I'd love some gear with some utility beyond the aesthetic.

Someone looked in the .dats a little while ago:

Four different pumpkin hats is the reward. So... more hats for ya, at least!

Events shouldn't give irreplaceable gear, anyway; stuff like that should be earned from NMs, dungeons, quest chains, &c.

I sort of agree with this, but I don't see any reason why event gear can't be useful for some period of the game at least, instead of just being "Hey I have a silly hat I'm going to wear for a week and then shove on to my retainer." They don't even need completely unique stats, just something useful at all.

The Usagi Kabuto's did a great job of this. I don't know if the event was even sort of fun(I quit a week before) but they look really cool, and they have useful stats even now. Those Egg hats aren't so terrible either, though they just look horrible.
These just have +1/-1 Enmity, which seems to be a bit of a rare stat here, but that amount seems to low to be useful at any time.
A balance between "silly hat" and "useful?!" is apparently possible, but it doesn't seem a like a lot of thought is put in these things besides "Silly hat."

Also as for the rewards... well the BG is down, and I can't find the .dat mining post, but it's 4 colored pumpkin head hats, as far as I can tell, their stats are unfortunately throwaway if I remember correctly.

Well the event has started. You talk to the quest person to start. You need to wait until nightfall then encounter imps in the disguise of people. Answering riddles is supposed to give you cookies which you can exchange for masks.

You exchange 3, 10, 50 or 99 for the 4 different masks. So 162 in total. After you exchange for one pupkin head, the quest is complete, but you can still talk to the NPC to get more

Edit: A bit more information
At nightime, the city will get a purplish cast like Mor Dhona. Travel around the towns. Usually around guilds you can find the NPCS. There seems to be a pattern of rotation. Every now and then a "suspicious" NPC will spawn and your chat dialogue will read "Trickster Imp: Life... Dreams... Imps... Where do they come from? And where do they go?" If you click on them they will go "Suspicious ________: Ahee hee hee!"

The NPC will transporm into a Imp and if you were the first to talk to them you will be given a riddle

You will see in your chat dialogue when you are near. If you talk to the right NPC you will get a ridde. Example:

Quote:
Trickster Imp: Oho! You've done well to see through my disguise, mortaling. I was convinced I'd gotten the glamour just right this time!
Trickster Imp:I wonder...might your mind be as sharp as your eyes? Riddle me this, and your day will be a touch sweeter for it! Hee hee!
Trickster Imp:Ahem! Ready or not, here I come!
Trickster Imp: And from ashes of pain and ruin shall riseAn undying Flame to drive dark from men's eyes.Of where do I speak?

Riddle is visible to all
The trickster imp poses a riddle to Rogue Muse.
And from ashes of pain and ruin shall riseAn undying Flame to drive dark from men's eyes.Of where do I speak?
RadzatHan.
Ala Mhigo.
Brittlebark.

Trickster Imp: ...Is the right answer! Someone has a fine head sitting atop her shoulders, doesn't she!?
Trickster Imp: What's that? You demand extra sweets? Well, well, aren't we bold as brass!
Trickster Imp: You're my kind of mortaling, mortaling. As a show of my partiality, I will give you nine pumpkin cookies!
Trickster Imp: Ta-ta, mortaling. Be seeing you!

You obtain 9 pumpkin cookies.

The trickster imp drops a basket of treats and vanishes into thin air.
You obtain 3 pumpkin cookies.

So if you are fast enough to get the suspicious NPC you can get 9 + 3 cookies. The treat baskets are available to everyone to click on and get cookies. Pay attention to green dots where there usually aren't any as you might come across a basket after it is dropped.

I look forward to the Lodestone background

Just wanted to mention that the answer to the following...
Quote:
She teaches of that to which Man is a thrall.
She hath one condition and yet none at all.
Of whom do I speak?
Menphina.
Nophica.
Nymeia.

is Menphina(The lover by the whole whatever guardian nonsense).

Event is sort of fun in a way, rewarding the people that paid attention to the lore and crap.
Or those that could just read it here...

To bad it's nightime only though, going to take me a bit to get all of these hats I'll never wear.
