I have been playing as of 3 days and find FFXIV an enjoyable game. I've created a linkshell specifically for newbies like myself, with twenty three members and counting as of this writing. I find crafting to be an interesting, immersive, strangely addictive and sometimes frightening affair. Battles can be harrowing and strategic.

Other than a handful of awkward, inconvenient or strange design choices, I have a good first impression of the game.

Its immersive, in my opinion, because the ingredients used to make the items make sense. I find it interesting, because actually creating the product is rewarding in its own way. Its addictive because of its progressive nature and frightening in the case of a high-material synth potentially breaking.

Give it time and you'll be mindlessly pressing one button while you watch tv like the rest of us.

I don't doubt that.

Yeah, unfortunately it's not a system that grows on you. It's good you're having fun while you can, though - so get out there and craft! Fish + Alchemy = Crystals! (\( ^_^)/)

Any job, any time. Just change your weapon or tool and change as often as you like.

Thanks for the impression. It's hard to visualize how a new player would experience FFXIV coming in at this point. For me, those awkward design choices built up over time with ever greater frustration. However, at this point, improvements to targeting, repairs and the lack of Fatigue have eliminated the worst of my my own issues with gameplay.

I'm curious to know which of the gameplay elements are still a nuisance to new players. Care to elaborate?

Specifically, I'm wondering if anything that may be a nuisance to new players is NOT being worked on in the future changes planned.
