I hope the people who ask the questions have read a lot of the interviews that have been popping up since the FFXIV 2.0 announcement, because I think a lot of quesitons regarding the future and 2.0 have been answered there already. It would be kind of a waste to see them just be repeated for the live q&a.

They should really do a simultaneous interpretation to english this time. It was kinda pointless last time as the only word I understood was Hi.

That, or I learn to understand japanese before Nov 3...?

They will ask:
"I want an auction houuuuse!"
"When can I have a house of my own!?!?"
"lol Yoshida, you are busy, rite?"

Until Yoshida realizes that he already gave that huge road-map and time-line of events up to v2.0, at which point he will shake his head condescendingly at us all - live - and promptly sever the connection.

Oh, you're right; that will totally be mixed in there! XD

Something about this makes me chuckle. Perhaps it's the fact that you're telling someone on a forum to learn to read. Where if they couldn't, the advice would be for naught.

I really would ask about auction house. Not when, but more details about how it will work and if this one is planned to be the permanent solution or a standby until they make a more elaborate one.

Changes to our Names/worlds is a question I wanna hear about. Also will there be a Sync system or a Sync item for 2.0 release. Reason cause I want my GF to play in 2.0 and I have a few classes nearing 50.

Since SE's stupid website allows me to login, then asks to save my main character, then WON'T save it...I can't write my question, but I'm glad to see the first question there is Why are we going to have to pay for an incomplete game for a year? I know a slew of people who are dropping off because they can't justify paying for the game as it stands now. Seems to me SE is depending on people who will play anything FF-based, no matter how incomplete, to pay for a year so the rest get the game that should have come in the box a year ago. In other words, they're ******** their biggest fans so the rest of the people can play a good game eventually. This company gets less and less of my respect with every move they make. As it stands now, the game is nothing more than a grind with some pretty graphics. The economy stinks, especially post patch 1.19, where everything you make can be bought from an NPC, thus setting a max price and ruining any competitive market. The storyline quest was a joke--travel-heavy, dangerous to reach, and unfulfilling, as well as unrewarded. The class quests are unrewarded (how about some gear, already?). There's two dungeons and getting adequate parties for them is tough and frustrating. Solo play is a boring grind. Anyone who convinces themselves that the game is worth paying for has to be rationalizing on some level, as there are plenty of great games, even FFXI, that are worth the monthly fee.

If that is how you feel, simply don't play until you think FFXIV is good enough. Noone is forcing you to do anything you don't want to.

SE you is forcing you to pay for their game in the same sense that the Indian food restaurant down the street is forcing me to pay for their food when I hate Indian food and Wal-Mart is charging me for tampons when I'm clearly a man and don't want them.

And the "who gives a **** award goes to" ^
SE stated clearly that for the people that stay and play will experience the game in a transitional manner, meaning that you will get the benefit of quests, items, story, content what will come and go. Meaning that it will be available for only windows of time. As such some things available from 1.20 leading to 2.0 will not available past 2.0. Quite a good deal if you ask me pay for content that will be exclusive for a time frame. And probably give you a step up from people that get on the boat after the second release.

It won't be erased, simple as that.

Not sure about a Sync system, but Name change is in the grey area along with race change.

World change is going to be limited, and locked out of specific new worlds to keep a fresh economy there until those servers get to settle. Otherwise certain instances will be cross-server instances in which you can party with anyone in the game. And server transfers will be possible, but likely on the same restriction level you can expect from FFXI.

All of this info is readily available if you read the info they're practically throwing at everyone.

I think the first question there was meant to be sarcastic as in another stupid question people will probably ask that we already know the answer to.

The second question there I really hope they have race/gender/name change allowed considering how different characters might look with the new engine. The name thing would of course mostly be important if gender change is also possible though.

I guess, but it would be strange if they allow for gender change, but not name change I think. Of course, it could be funny to see Cloud StrifeXIXIX run around with pigtails.

They could just let PPL keep their names if they wish or pick a new one. It will hold that name until/if u change it with genders. Also give one free world change to everyone who has a current account.

Okay, this has been going around for a while, and I'd like to take this opportunity to try and help quell this bit of misinformation - though I don't expect to be completely successful. There is some confusion over the use of the phrase "new server" in the documents. This confusion stems from the double meaning of the word server in the computer community. As MMO players, we tend to encounter the word "server" when referring to the physical hardware that stores our characters and represents the world that we play in. For example, Besaid server and Selbina server.

However, there is a second (although in actuality they end up being the same thing) use for the word server. That is, the code operating on the physical servers. When the dev team says they plan on completely recreating the server, they do not mean we are all going to have to change our server or "world", they mean that they are changing the fundamental underpinning of how the data on each world is processed. If done correctly, we shouldn't even notice the difference (beyond quicker response times and the dev team suddenly being able to add party searches and other functions difficult to implement on the current software).

Yeah Iv read what they said and I know what the servers are. I know they said they are changing the data server to give better gameplay. I was just wondering if since they are changing so much that they would let us pretty much start over with our current LVs. I have come to find a few old friends on other servers, and I know they are talking about a cross server/world team ups ATM also.

Not a gamebreaker, as job implementation will probably be one of those gameplay hooks used to lure players to the game. Not a bad thing, really.

I would, however, ask for Yoshida's thoughts on the Fencer class as well as to when it might hit the game (or if it will hit the game). Then I'd ask the obvious "will it be the main class behind the Red Mage job?".
