I recently came back with the 1.19 patch (along with quite a few others I'd imagine). Games feeling good, been logging on consecutive days, etc. Only issue, friends list is empty, none came back and all old LS' and members have vanished. So now I want to try and join a new shell as playing alone in Eorza is beyond painful as there are 0 shouts anywhere, hardly anyone around (minus Ul'Dah), and it just feels barren.

Anyhow, I've checked out quite a few sites for shells on Besaid and most of them only accept members of rank X and above, or players willing to play X amount of hours/week. Some have even put recruiting on hold until SE does something about LS management. Why is this not a priority, you're trying to lure people back to this game, a MMO, and we can't even socialize? I don't blame these shells at all for not recruiting or only accepting certain members, cause reforming every patch would suck. On the other hand, it's extremely difficult to get into a MMO that feels so empty.

I'm sure if SE would just fix the LS management it would solve a lot of issues and shells would be far more welcoming of new/returning players. How hard to can it be to program a remove member option? That's all that's needed. I'm one of these players who enjoys all the changes and would even consider paying come December or what not, but it's hard to wait until these changes are made.

Better LS management is on its way. If it's not here in patch 1.20 then it'll definitely be here in patch 1.21. If you read some of the many interviews Yoshida has done in the past 2 or 3 weeks you'll hear him mention things about this.

I don't think what you are saying is correct. They have stated that the LS system will be completely scrapped and recreated. They said that it would take time. They have not noted this as part of 1.20 or 1.21 that I have seen. It's a surprisingly low priority. The focus is clearly on the battle system and jobs right now (and the new Market revisions).

Linkshell System is clearly outlined at the line for Oct/Nov 2011. I believe it's their intention to at least touch on the LS system prior to the billing restart.

Thanks Ryneguy. I don't think this image is the proof that LS tools are really coming. I guess we will see. Here's hoping.

Also, from the Live Q&A:

Quote:
Q: When is the revamp of the Linkshell system going to take place?

A: Since we are receiving quite a number of demands on this, I have been discussing with the Lodestone team and would like to work on it as soon as possible to improve the in-game community feature, especially in regards to Linkshells. We understand a Linkshell search is essential.
As the work on patch 1.19 has just been completed, we are now assigning priority to each task for patch 1.20 and beyond. I consider that the revamp of the Linkshell system is a must do to strengthen the in-game community for players to enjoy the game together. So, please wait a little longer.

I saw that. That post also does not clarify the schedule for LS tools. In fact, it makes it clear by omission that the LS revisions were not part of 1.20 at the time the post was written.

I don't know why I'm getting rated down. Anyone care to explain the reasoning behind your negativety? Do I have troll admirers?

That's not how I read it, it sounds more like like Yoshida is stating that he's aware of Linkshell issues, and now that they're assigning activities to 1.20 and beyond, they're considering Linkshells a 'must do' activity.

Someone's rating me down as well, I can't imagine my first post being anything other than informative, since I simply linked the PDF from the outline and pointed out the section I was referring to. Oh well...thankfully karma isn't everything. ^_^;

That PDF also says 1.20 is live from what it appears to be the end of September, and we all know that's not the case.

In this interview it says LS management is going to be a while out, at least in 1.21:

Quote:
You have made it a priority of reinforcing the community for players. Nevertheless, before that, are you thinking of adding new tools permitting to change basic things such as personalized linkshell logo, interact with a member of one’s own linkshell without him needing to be connected?

For your information my linkshell counts 115 members, but the number of members limit causes some problems/trouble. Moreover, if a member doesn’t respect the rules, excluding him is impossible if he’s not next to me.

Naoki yoshida :
First of all I’d like to start with the personalization function. We will add that to the free companies system so for the free company you will be able to design your own emblem or crest and put it on your armoury or shield. That is something we really want to add for the free company system. The linkshell system has more to do with the general communication so there will be a separation between the two systems. We are aware there is a problem with the LS kick function. With 1.20 we will add two search functions one is for searching players and one is to search the market. and the ability to search the market wards. Once we implement these two features we will fix the linkshell kick function. It will be after 1.20.
