I've been leveling up almost every craft, got my archer to 13. Finding that items aren't hard to come by, just tedious to farm for the items to craft.

What I don't understand is the lack of communication from the community in game. Also Whats the deal w/ NO auction house?! And whats the point of a Bazaar if EVERY players just puts up stuff at 999,999,999gil!? I'm actually trying to get some spair cash from certain items that I have found players actually will pay nicely for, but nobody has bought 1 thing from my bazaar. I have 1 red dye for $5000 in my bazaar for 2 days before Shouting in Uldar if anybody wanted to buy it, and someone messaged me saying he'd pay me $16000 for 1. ?!?!?!?!? WTF?!?!??! Bazaar's are overlooked because almost every players Bazaar is just to show off your crap!

I understand a little bit now why so many players have quit or say this game isn't that great. I enjoy crafting so it's still fun for me. The lack of finding players to talk with or ask questions is frustrating. Leveling up as an Archer past level 10 hasn't been a breeze either. I don't necessarily enjoy Guild Leves, but grinding takes a while between fights regaining health.

Wow. Let me dust myself off from that Whaam-bulance that just went by...

#1 don't use your Bazzaar to sell- hire a retainer and use the wards like everyone else.

#2 putting something in Bazzaar for 99999999 is a way to obtain inventory +1.

Sad but true. Vets keep saying auction house doesnt matter but as you can see from the perspective of a new player it clearly does.

The market wards are heading toward becoming a fully functioning auction house, but SE is a bit too proud to actually change the name even though the concept isn't the same. Anyway, this is something you can look forward to in the future.

As for people not being talkative or helpful, I'd assume it's because they either don't have the time or don't have anything to talk about. Seek out a linkshell if you're trying to get some social interaction going. Most people generally don't just chat in the city.

Don't be a jackass. He's a new player asking new player questions.

As for a linkshell, you should check out the server forums here and either post that you are looking for a shell or else find a thread with LS's in it and see if there are any that fit your style. Trust me, it will be unbelievably beneficial to join an LS as soon as possible, as it will open the door to group play which is so unbelievably faster than soloing.

Also, what server are you on? I know you've already leveled a bit, but if you are on a low population server it might be wise to just start a new character on one of the more heavily populated servers in order to find more people to associate with. Some servers are EXTREMELY dead, while others like Besaid and Selbina are chalk full of players.

Good luck, and I hope you find some good people to hang with in-game!

Come to selbina, is full of people, the market ward is not crowded with 99999999 gil items, but from my experience the whole no talk, seems like a dead world is universal in this game, i came from istory to selbina and pretty much the same, people dont talk, dont answer to shouts, they pretty much afk in a city lol

Until things liven up with even more players (and there already has been a big influx), you're going to see some dead spots in communication.

Get a good, decent-sized LS. Find someone that's proliferating their shell as a social one. Most of the time they'll also be tied in with an events shell too.

As others stated, most people bazaar items for two reaons:
1. To create additional inventory space or on a personal level,
2. Carry around common items like food, dark matter, etc. so that they're readily available in the field.

I'm not sure why you're having problems finding groups to do things with, especially on whatever server you're on. Bodhum is very active, and I always see shouts in Uldah for groups to do stuff.

There was a thread awhile back on official forums that lists people who are open to helping/inviting newbies for stuff:

Actually a common reason people may put an item in their bazaar for all 9's is so that they don't accidentally throw the item away. I always put my amazing gear in FFXI like that just to avoid the 1 in a million chance I threw someone away I worked months to get.

And secondly, I'm sure one of the less-trollier posters already mentioned this... but the AH is coming! So fret not my friend! What server are you on?

Well I ended up being invited into a very nice heavily populated LS last night that has made things a LOT quicker/easier now. Btw i'm on Figaro Server.

I realized that some players probably put up items in their Bazaar so they don't loose them due to limited inventory space. But it just doesn't make sense to put up 10 of 1 lower level item for 999,999,999. Who needs 10 bronze axes in their bazaar!??!

I did find the market area yesterday, and noticed the Retainer's. My concern with this is this... LETS just all say that FFXIV becomes HUGELY popular and every server has 20x more players, and lets just say every player hires a retainer. It'll be a Sea of NPC's. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I'm around a TON of players/NPC's ....they don't load fast ..or not at all... This has nothing to do with my computer or internet connection from what I've discovered.

The simple thing would be to just put up an Auction House.
In fact I'd love to see an Auction House added to the Menu that you could have a Moogle companion that can deliver/recieve your AH Inquiry's with. Lets say you are in the field, you could access the AH and search for a new weapon because your grinding w/ a party has gained you 6 new levels, but you don't have that new cool weapon or armor that could benefit you now. Send your Moogle to go buy it for you and bring it back. It would keep to the unique Final Fantasy aspect while making it easier for players to access gear/equipment on the server. I'm not saying we would see moogles flying EVERYWHERE, but just close to the players proximity to look like it's going to fetch you junk. It could have a delay based on how far you are from a city.

Thanks for all the input. Glad things are getting better for me too. :D

Yeah, like I said before it is already in the works. Check the roadmap and you can read up on it, but basically it will model AH without actually be called AH.

Your concerns and forethought into the current Ward system is light years ahead of the original FFXIV developers, apparently.

The game is transitioning to a typical AH type system, this much is known, but believe it or not when this game first launched there wasn't even an item search in the Wards. While I don't pretend to know the inner workings and future plans of the original developers, at the time it didn't seem like they even considered changes to the Wards as something that was needed and only patched in a search later after much outcry. But again, I'm just speculating on this based upon watching this game progress from beta to where we are now.

Also believe it or not, there were people out there who defended the original Market Ward system vehemently and completely lambasted anybody who dared suggest Auction House-esq type changes. There was a certain core FFXIV web site I use to visit alongside this one, but was completely driven away because of just how intolerant their community was toward any comments suggesting the game wasn't perfect.

i honestly think they are going to implement something along those lines. probably not quite SO user-friendly-instant-access. at the very least we are going to see a system that is very very close to AH soon.

also congrats (real congrats, not sarcastigrats) on being critical of a game you enjoy. most people tend to just swing completely one way or the other. I think this is a great game, but my critical mind knows it can be so much better.

I appreciate the congrats!

I've always wanted a good Final Fantasy MMORPG. I really had high hopes when it was announced that they were doinga new MMO years ago. I did try FFXI when it was originally released, prior to any expansions! HECK I was one of the crazy idiots who actually IMPORTED XI before it's US launch. I gave that game my best, but I could not get over the de-leveling/exp losses and hours of sitting waiting to find a group to GRIND!!! At level 35ish I had a few bad party's that got me to CLICK "uninstall"

As for XIV, It's got it's ups and it's got it's downs so far. As it stands I think that they did a great job w/ the crafting system. I enjoy the aspect when mining/harvesting that there is a chance of failure based on what I think of as the HOT/COLD game. This to me is completely different than other mmo's i've played, and I like it. The flaw i'm seeing long term for crafting, is that there doesn't seem to really be anything that's unique to players in the crafting system...example:They need to make crafts that MUST be obtained by performing certain duties/quests or are read from a piece of paper found off a Notorious Monster or found randomly on a mob. Right Now any player can search recipe lists, farm up the mats, and make everything they need on their own (like i've been doing).

The leve's system is nice too, giving you multiple ways of gaining experience for your jobs. I've not been utilizing it that much so I can't really say too much about it.. :D

I'm going to keep playin the game for a while...atleast until Diablo 3 is released! Honestly thats the only game on the horizon I'm looking forward to.

Still can't move while viewing a bazaar.

Bazaars are bizarre. While I was once a close adherent to the concept of bazaar-only system for trade, I found the implementation to be clunky and frustrating within hours of installing my early release version. While I applaud the decision to try and move away from the traditional "AH" concept used in so many other games, the function of the current bazaar systems still needs a serious over-haul. To those I "...vehemently and completely lambasted" (I think that is how it went) for suggesting an AH-esq system (mostly on mmorpg.com), I am truly sorry.

yall have to admit though, the markets have gotten easier to work with. what once took me hours to do, now takes a few minutes. Go up to search counter, find the item looking for, go to that ward and person, purchase item.

i still think an AH connected to all 3 cities is in order, but I believe the backlash experienced from launch regarding the wards would have been alot less than what it was if the current features were in place.
