[dev1208] Changes to Repairs

* The following changes are planned for patch 1.20.
* All features are under development and subject to change.

The following changes to repairing will be introduced in patch 1.20.
Simplification of the Repair Motion

The repair motion will be simplified and the time required for the procedure shortened.

Removal of the Repair Screen

Since it is now possible to perform repairs using only dark matter, the repair screen will no longer be displayed after selecting the Repair command.

Repairing Accessories via Repair NPCs

As an alternative to repairing an accessory yourself or requesting it of another PC, NPCs will be able to repair accessories as well.

Inclusion of Level Requirements in Item Help

To make it clear from what level a Disciple of the Hand will be able to repair an item, item help will be updated to include this information.

We will continue to improve repairing in further patches beyond patc

Well, the fewer tedious confirmation menus the better.

It could have been, "we've decided the billing period will begin on the 18th of November 2011"

Or a link to a shock site.

Yay! I can get my dang earrings repaired quickly when I am in a hurry. I still prefer to have a DoH do it if I have time to look for one.

Also, I really wish they would kick out any retainer in the repair wards that does not have something up for repairs and/or has been there for more than 3 days. After 3 days I figure everyone in there is asking for repairs for a insultingly low reward.

Is it wrong that I would actually find it funny if SE Rick Rolled us?

not a lot of news or anything huge, but at least we get to know repairing will be better. I hated it when the game launched but i find it alright as it is now, minus the fact weapons degrade to fast in my opinion.

so far so good yoshi keep it up!

Wish they would just change it so that you only lose durability when you die. Glad to hear they're making it so NPCs can repair accessories though.

Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that the dev. team agrees that it would be convenient and create more inventory space if they allowed the use of grade 5 dark matter for equipment of any level. We will be implementing this in 2.0, but if there are enough requests we can look into implementing it even sooner.

So if NPCs can repair all items to 99% durability, and if they're making it so that one generic item can repair all items, why are we keeping the system at all? Unless they allow crafters to improve equipment beyond 100% (e.g., to a bonus 125%, with a buff, or something), then we will basically be left with a slightly slower version of WoW's repair system...

From needing 20 different items for repair, to needing 5 items for repair, to needing 1 item to fix all. Why doesn't SE just drop the NPC repair cost another 50%, and make things 100% repair. Problem solved. Better yet just abandon this repair system all together and bring back the exp loss system from XI. Maybe then people will play a little more smartly and learn to be more aware of the surroundings rather then navigate the world like sheep.

I think crafting items that cause a temporary buff would be pretty cool. But do make them items that can be bought and sold and anyone can apply them to their own weapons. Food would be your characters buff and on top of that I could use a sharpening stone on my sword and have +25% damage for an hour or something.

Also, a long time ago I suggested repair kits and I still think they would be a nice addition to the game. If you could have crafters make repair kits that I could take with me out in the field and apply to my equipment when it starts to wear.

Basically I am a big fan of consumables that are made by crafters and can be used by everyone.

SE seems to want a stream line to the mechanics, and keep redundancy in the game to a minimal. As is we have a fix 99% and fix 100%. So if kits come in to play it'll be kits and NPC, or kits and manual fix. I cant see room the 3.

I would say no, npc + manual is enough.

I would say the whole system is a load of crap. Most people say it's way less of a hassel than FFXI's death penalty, but I disagree, this durability system makes me rage hard. In XI on the rare chance you deleveled (happened once in a blue moon) you could just keep trucking and get your level back, here if your weapon breaks (happens often) you become borderline useless, and have to run to **** and back to fix your gear.
