Fun way to deal with IfritFollow

So just for fun, we decided to try the stun method and found it actually work. We have Ifrit on farm status, but decided to change up how we deal with Hellfire.

Also a link of our next fight, and we didn't even bother to DPS any of the nails.

Maybe because it's an issue that needs to be addressed! An emergency update to fix this is will be imminent now. You are not the first to find this loop hole, but you are the first stupid enough to tell SE about it.

Nah, not the first by far, but thanks for /raging. The stun/wrist flick was discovered almost a week after Ifrit was out. They patched him once to be immune to Riot Blade + Contagion, they should have just made him immune to stun from the get go.

So don't go blaming me for it, is the reason why you're so upset is because thats the only way you can beat Ifrit?

Fortunately i have never used this on Ifrit, so if SE only change Ifrit no loss. If the skill it self is changed it's a different story, as it's quite handy for other none Ifrit related occasions. Such as stunning something as you run by on you DoL class.

Wrist flick has been known to always stick stun since last year. The fact that people ignored its application in HNMs and Ifrit was just ignorance. The fact that someone would spam the SE forum saying "Hey look! We can use an intended function to break the game!" is nothing short of annoying.

Now they are probably going to add some form of "check" to it which means when a DoH/L needs to use it to get away from aggro we are gonna get screwed. And you know SE won't invoke the simple solution of making NMs immune to Wrist Flick.

I'm speaking with regards to it being used on Ifrit, I know it always worked on mobs.

Quote:
We have identified an issue wherein the "Hurl with great force, causing your next thrown stone to stun the target" effect is always attained when using the Wrist Flick ability.

We are currently in the process of testing fixes to address this issue.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

The way they make it sound, it seems like it was never intended to be 100%, I don't know if they are trying to cover their own ****** yet still, if it was never meant to work that way then whats the difference between you using it and use having some fun on an Ifrit fight.

I guarentee it was intended, they probably just never figured people would invite a DoH/L into something like that. I suppose the easiest fix, without removing the effect which is really needed for DoH/L is to restrict access into the fight to only DoW/M members. (In other words, prevent people from entering with a DoH/L member in the PT, and prevent you from changing to a DoH/L once you enter.

Or like I mentioned before, just make the NM immune to it.

Using a stun pebble on Ifrit, is as insulting as clubbing AV like a seal. 100% 5sec stun on random mob SE will over look, 100% 5sec stun on a in game god can not be allowed. It's "fun" if you keep it to your self, what you did was raise the red banner and wave it in SE's face.

So your saying it's okay for DoL to be able to use an in-game mechanic to always stun mobs they are trying to move around, but it's not okay if we use the same mechanic to stun mobs people might be fighting?

Yes. It is ok. It was intended to be an escape mechanic.

Technolust you are missing the point...
A DoL using stun not to get *** handed while mining/botany/fishing is one thing.
A DoL using stun on a god in a battle field is something completely different.

Edit:

Then maybe you should post your reasons without any vitriol.

This mechanic was discovered almost as soon as Ifrit was implemented, it was even posted on the official forums with 3 DoH stun locking Ifrit. It's nothing new.

Yet you guys are huffing and puffing about something that hasn't changed. **** none of us know how they will implement it. The whole being able to stun NM's 100% of the time was an oversight by the Devs, hopefully they will make normal mobs 100% but NM/WNM/Primals immune to stun.

So until then you guys should relax a little lol...

Technolust wrote:

That would be bad. Immune to stun...no. Immune to Wrist Flick...sure. Stun shouldn't be effected (like for example...LNC's Leg Sweep...) To speak frankly though if Yoshida hadn't specifically stated that DoH/L were not going to be stand alone classes as Tanaka had originally intended I would have no problem with a possible stun-lock scenario for fights like Ifrit. (Maybe just adjust the drop rate so that items don't drop as often the more non-combat classes that are present in the party.) However, he did clarify that, so it just needs to be fixed. I stand firm on the idea that they should just make NMs immune to Wrist Flick without effecting the ability to stun through the use of other abilities.

You must not have a long history with SE then. Reason for over reaction is that every time SE has done "Current Known Issues" on any oversight, and have fixed whats not broken the result has been, pathetic for a lack of a better word.

Not sure if ignorant or stupid. Smiley: dubious Not much to comprehend here, you found and oversight, made a video how to use it for gain, ran to SE and rubbed it in there nose. With the use of you none existent mind, you have given SE all it needs to make a semi-useful skill completely useless.

I think it's pretty ignorant to assume that SE didn't already know about this since, as he's said, it's been mentioned before on the official forums by other people. They're probably looking into how to fix the issue without breaking the intended purpose for Wrist Flick.

It's fair enough to argue that it's likely to be fixed at some point, but rubbing the guy's nose in it for mentioning something which has already come to their attention is a bit silly. Given this stage in the game's development, I'm confident they won't go out of their way to ***** things up just because of this single exploit. Making Ifrit immune to the ability makes a lot more sense than a nerf on all uses of the skill.

Unfortunately it is the OP's fault. SE knew about it, SE did nothing about because no one till now ran up to them screaming waving there arms and pointing at it. Even if it's working as intended (which it probably is), after the blunt stupidity of the OP, SE has no real choice but to change the skill. If they see it as a potential "exploit" the impact on it will be that much harder.

Rage? hardly that would take to much energy i can spend some place else. As well the obvious fact that you keep missing the point is far to apparent. I keep saying it's beneficial for a DoL not do die to the one stray mob in the area. You keep trying to justify that if a miner can stun a mouse with a rock, stunning Ifrit is on par.

As for "hypocrite" far from it, for the most part SE learns about bugs one way or another, however as long as they see it's not being abused they leave it alone. In this instance SE knew about this hick up but chose to do nothing, as such DoL could use it to save there life. Reason it all of a sudden became an issue is not because you used it to stun Ifrit a few times, but because you made a video, and threw it in there face. You made a poor call now.

As much as Technolust is is making himself look like a boob with some of his "u r dum lol" responses, I think he's right. The "It's broken, shhhhhh" mentality is just silly. If players assume that every new strategy innovation is an exploit that they have to hide, the game will die faster than... well, than it already did. It's either a legitimate strategy, in which case, yay, or it's a genuine weakness in the game and something that will improve the game if fixed, in which case, yay. Saying that you want the game to work well and fairly for everyone except a few people who discreetly exploit silly code is basically saying that you care more about yourself than the overall health of the game.

And, that's coming from a career FFXI NIN who saw two different tanking mechanisms neutered as a result of SE's habit of cudgeling player innovation. I think SE's responses to things like this are very frequently very lame, but that's something you accept as part of their vision for the game, not something you desperately hide from.

Saying that you want the game to work well and fairly for everyone except a few people who discreetly exploit silly code is basically saying that you care more about yourself than the overall health of the game.

Actually I'm not the one calling anyone dumb, Tweedle is the one hurling the 'u r dumb' responses, I'm genuinely laughing though, because his responses are a perfect example of "Do as I say, not as I do mentality."

I didn't break the game, I didn't wave a red flag in front of SE's face. I posted 2 topics on the official forums, the first one disappeared 30 minutes after I posted it. No explanation, nothing. So naturally I thought it was a glitch, that something had happened to the forums. So I posted it a second time, 30 minutes later it was deleted. That's when I realized it wasn't a glitch and that the mods were removing it.

Calling someone stupid because they did something that you have been trying to hide from the developers like Caesura says is silly. If I find something in the game that I think, and a lot of others think is funny, record it, and make a video of it, you better believe I'm going to share it. It's people that want to hide exploits and glitches and cheats so they are the only ones that can take advantage of it makes me sick.

Guess how many times we did the Wrist Flick, Rock Throw? Three times, 1st one was messing around, second one was to record hellfire actually being stopped, third one to record an entire fight without having to DPS the nails down.

Not DPS'ing the nails down because were using wrist flick & stone throw? Way OP. If you don't believe me watch the video.

That's our third and final fight with wrist flick.

Instead of trying to fix the game, I say break it to an incredible degree!
