The axe is all wrong. That looks pretty good, actually. It has no place being included with those others. The pole arm had me laughing a bit but that bow had me laughing so hard I thought I was going to vomit.. Holy crap it's ridiculous! Talk about just trying to stick something moogle related where ever they could.

So does anyone know if these are just meant to be novelty items or are they supposed to be items to use for real combat?

I agree, though obviously I enjoy the new series as an adult... I don't really see what I saw watching the old series as a kid and liking it. But I did, and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Items for real combat! Honestly though i really think people are over reacting to the visual appearance of these weapons.

No, they're just poorly designed. Again, save the axe.

Not sure it would improve them for some, but for me it would put them so far out into absurd land that they'd be that much more enjoyable... like a bad/silly anime you don't want to admit to your friends that you love.

Just like "My Little Pony", everyone has seen at least one episode. But most would not confess to it, even if in front of a firing squad. Seriously though the Prime Battle weapon skin as they are will probably be one of the things that will be only pre 2.0. Who know maybe all drops after 2.0 will have a completely different skin.

The primals will still be in 2.0 and it would be pretty stupid of SE to lock their bigger more important audience of any special weapons/armors

You must admit they are awfully cutesy. Not likely to strike fear into many enemies.

Quite the opposite actually, the design is quite silly, cute and well done. I am not really sure what you expected from weapons based on a cute primal. Ifrit uses the "horn & fire", Garuda "wing & wind" design, Leviathan "fin & water" design, and Moogle "cute & none elemental magic"...

I don't know what the people who are complaining about the silliness of the moogle weapons were expecting.

I mean if this were something that were from something more serious, say Bahamut primal, or killing empire soldiers, I would be concerned. But it's a cutesy moogle.

Wand, Sword, Staff, Axe, Bow, Hand to Hand, Lance. For faster reference.

With the exception of the moogle doll oddly placed on the Lance and Bow the over all weapon appearance is quite original.

And staff... and wand...

... and as for hand-to-hand, I don't even know what to say: they're just, literally, moogle heads - not obviously handmade dolls, not metallic representations, but more like the full, supple, jiggling faces of some living moogles you'd see flying around Eorzea. That's what I want to get at: that the hand-to-hand weapons aren't so much a design as an already extant creature that was placed on top of your hands. It's like the only thing SE could think of to fit the design of a moogle-themed weapon was to paste in one of the moogles they have occupying the .dats! ****, even some pom-pom knuckle-dusters would have made more sense!*

But I think we all get that these weapons were made at the last minute, and acknowledge that there are better designs; it's really the degree to which we care about that. I probably seem more outraged than I am. But I know that the creative team at SE knows how to make thematic equipment better than these things. In a certain sad way, it's actually quite amusing how unbalanced and out of place the weapons really look. XD

*I am not endorsing the implementation of pom-pom weapons - understand that, SE? (-_-)

Staff has a rotating Moogle attached to the top, and the Wand is a moogle sitting in a flower.... Pretty nice looking for a last minute designs. I guess the h2h could have been done more like the lion head h2h for xiv monk i suppose.

I hope the weapons say "Kupo" when you pull them out, Kupo.

As you mentioned the other gear sets would take an element from those primals and incorporate it into the design, not randomply slap on a miniature model of the primal on the weapon. These designs are not thought out at all, this makes them look half-assed, there's no way to go around it.

Ah, now that's what I was getting at: the difference between having a thematic design and, well, just having the very thing. I just hope this is no indication of SE's future ability (e.g., Garuda weapons have a miniature Garuda on them; Bahamut weapons have a miniature Bahamut on them)... Titan cosplay for the win?

As i was staring out the window watching the snow pile i wondered, why doesn't SE simply make is possible to re-skin item's like in AION. With the option to revert to original for a fee. Make it so all items can be re-skin, U/U items can have skin changed, but cant be used to skin something else. That or .dat swap!

No thanks.

edit: i dont feel like having to personally examine every single piece of gear of every single person i pick up for 'x' mission/quest/etc... to see wtf kind of gear they are wearing.
