Oh ok. So like, four words?

Agreed, looks good but well over due. Now I can be doing things while searching for a party and not have to be in UD looking for shouts. And the language feature seems like a great concept also.

The game looks like it is finally shaping up!

I thought the chat length restriction was around 128 characters... If that's the case, those are 4 mighty big words...

It looks like you can seek on a class your not currently on which is awesome. Can seek party while crafting!

Way long over due, glad it's finally here...hopefully it will be enough to keep my husband interested in keeping out accounts once it goes p2p.

Yay! I can go chop down trees and seek for a Stronghold party as CNJ. I hope it is easy to use so everyone starts using it right away.

It doesn't look much different than the clunky menus we currently have... I suppose it has more functionality though, right? Someone with greater menu familiarity will answer this, I'm sure.

I guess I was just hoping for some shortcuts brought over from FFXI:

/sea 35-45 inv all

will always be much easier than tabbing/clicking through menus and making use of a small results box.

You could do that with the current party search system.

They just simplified it. Now you don't have to equip the class Party Search>>Recruit>>Seek Invite then change class again. Now you can just do it all through the party search menu.

I was hoping they'd return XI's system as well, it was just so simple and convenient. The interface in the pictures looks pretty bloated and a pain in the ***. Hopefully it's simpler than I'm making it out to be.

This search system is better then 11's. I love that i can set my prefered class instead of the class I am... SOOOOO much better then 11's system, not to mention i can be anywhere on the map and use my anima to get to any party location.

The days of sitting in town waiting for invites are over, I can now do other things while i wait for a party, About time the anima system and class switching system can now start to function outside the paradigm of every other MMO.

Long overdue but nice to see they did it right. I like how you can see all the person's job levels, can't even do that with the check system really impressive.

But it's still worse than FFXI's system with a few additions.

I prefered a lot of FFXI's interface features over FFXIV's but what can we do? ._. Maybe at some point SE will figure out a way to give us PC players an optional "FFXI" UI. Just a few things I miss:

Menu casting.
/sea
No action bar.
Smaller HP/MP/TP bars.
Smaller Party HP/MP/TP bars.
Chat log.

I'm probably crazy and likely mixing things up but I thought you could resize most of the menu bars in the game.

chatlog
battlelog
xp bar
hp/mp bar
etc...

Not as small as I would like unfortunately.

edit: and by chat log i meant it was locked to the bottom of the screen and you could hit one button to fullscreen it then tab through the different types of chat (say/party/linkshell/tell/shout)

I really miss that about the chat long in FFXI. I know I can filter 4 different logs in FFXI but it still doesn't "feel" right yet. And yes, I have played around with it trying different setups.

And for the love of god, can we please chat with all our LS without equipping them... I hate having to finish a synth, stand up, switch LS just to reply to a LS message... People have popped on to ask if anything is going on and logged off before I could reply Smiley: mad

Ah, FFXI's chatlog - those were the good days, I tell you. It was the best and most convenient chatlog I've ever seen in a game, honestly. Text could be reordered and sorted with a single button, the font was nicely sized and rounded, and yet I could still change its size, background, and colours if I wished... but enough reminiscing...

Perhaps somebody developing an FFXI mod for FFXIV 2.0 will get me to finally embrace add-ons. Smiley: laugh

This I completely agree with. I was astounded when I first played FFXIV and realized that they ditched the chat menu controls I was disappointed.

I was disappointed by a lot more that they ditched out, like a playable game...

I'm curious to hear the post 1.20 complaining... I mean... 'feedback' regarding Player Search.

I'm amazed they would add this back, with so few people playing and all.

They took it away due to embarassment, they add it back with fewer people playing and an upcoming event about to cut huge numbers of players away? Makes no sense at all.

I respect their decision; it was propagandistic before and, really, we all knew that the numbers were astonishingly low without a search.

Player search is a basic mmo staple and needed to be improved and re-implemented. We all know many servers have very low populations so the search function changes nothing in that regard.

They are trying to make the game not only playable, but enjoyable. This is but one of the steps in that direction.

They actually never had it in. This is something they have been talking about getting in since Yoshi took over.

This is meant as an incentive for people to stay. Basically a way of telling people that they are trying to get the game back on track, and to show the functionality as they are developing it. Which has been the main reason (it definitely isn't directly financial) for them to keep the servers up. I for one believe that they (or at least some who are in the position to make decisions as SE) actually care about Final Fantasy, and are personally invested in the idea more so than the product. Things like this allow me to keep that belief alive.

But, I understand that people have lost faith, and either will need to see the completed product, or are totally disenfranchised with it and may never return. Either way, I am happy with what they are doing. As for the search, the funny part is, with all the stuff updated, I haven't had time to try it out yet. So many achievements to work on. Hopefully once I have more of the solo stuff sorted out, I can move on to partying, and get my Maat Cap 2.0.

The other poster was referring to the ability to see how many people were on at once, not the search feature as it exists right now. Back in the day players were able to see how many people were online (but really all they cared about were how many people weren't online), and SE removed that feature without any explanation. XD
